I think it goes unsaid that a lot of folk magic is extremely regional to small localities. I practice swedish folk magic, but there's a lot of variation within the same country (in people, climate, landscape, traditions, etc.). it's something I think a lot on, when it comes to predicting future weather/seasons depending on the whether on a certain date. would these dates still be magically relevant to divining weather away from the locality that the beliefs originated from? I'm not convinced, and I think it would take years of developing a relationship with the land you're on and becoming intimate with the patterns of the land to be able to recreate this practice elsewhere
I’m so very fascinated by Trolldom,
but I got so confused on what exactly it is; that when I realized it’s quite simple, the bigger talking heads in the space started to make me question why I thought it was something difficult to understand….
What I mean; Trolldom is Scandinavian folk magic, a magic connected to traditions folklore and beliefs originating from Scandinavian countries of Europe. There are historical references that you can pull from to get a better understanding of what exactly it looked like over time, but there isn’t some secret hidden thing that makes it significantly different. Not different enough to need to find an “expert” for it.
Anyway; let’s just say I didn’t like Johannes Gardback’s book very much.
do not speak the name j******* g******* to me in an attempt to assert the legitimacy of your trolldom practice. all it will do is make me annoyed at the commodification of folk magic again

folk magic isn't a monolith, and pieces from one tradition aren't applicable to every tradition, nor necessarily interchangeable. calling myself a "folk witch" does not mean I automatically also subscribe to the folk traditions of another practitioner
honestly, I think I'm going to shut up about swedish folklore and folk magic in relation to norse polytheism. people love my swedish culture when my perspectives support and validate their UPG and hate me when I call out mischaracterizations caused by cultural disconnect.
