It was around midnight when the sound of knocking woke him up. It was faint, and if his visitor hadn’t done it again, he would have chalked it up to imagination. He let out a loud yawn, feeling a sheet of paper fall from his face and back to the desk. “Coming, coming.”He murmured under his breath, attempting to shake the sleep away. He stumbles to the door and his half-opened eyes shoot wide open when he saw his guest. She looks tired..so, so tired. Her pinstripe suit jacket draped over her arm that she clenches tight to her side. Her shoulder is crimson, the white fabric of her shirt stained with blood that continues to move down the fabric. “Piper!”Her name is the only thing he finds himself able to say, and he feels his voice shake. She gives something that resembles a laugh, her voice dry as she gives him a look that is only filled with delirium. “Guess I didn’t have anywhere else to go.”
