Before I say anything, I like all versions of Trigun. Yes, somehow I even kinda like Stargaze too. And I have my problems with ALL adaptations before yall call me a trimax purist or whatever.
But omg some people who love Trigaze cannot handle criticism of it at all.
And its okay to like it! It's okay to like something and know its not perfect or acknowledge its faults, but say "well, I still like it". We've all done that!
But everytime I look to see analysis of Trigaze or praise for it in the midst of a lot of criticism, I just see toxic positivity or "well, if you squint, step 50 feet away, and stand on your head its an amazing show!"
And theres always the fated "You just like Trimax too much! Studio Orange never said they'd make a faithful adaption!" When thats not the major issue. The major issue is how much the themes of the story and the writing outside of being based off a Manga is butchered.
I'm actually happy that a lot of people realize now Stampede wasn't horrible and 98 wasnt perfect! But with Trigaze it's such crazy whiplash and though I try to find nuance, how one side just acts like nothing is wrong with it annoys the shit out of me. I wont claim all Trigaze haters are flawless saints, but for some of these people it feels they're watching a different show entirely.
I feel like a nerd typing this all out and I KNOW I'll get a "just let people enjoy things" comment or reblog, buy it's a pet peeve of mine as someone who WANTED Trigaze to desperately succeed after Stampede received so much hate.
