Here's the thing about triggers and slurs. Slurs are words used by social institutions to insult an individual or a group on the basis of their traits, usually in which they cannot change. Of course these are ignorant, malicious, and can traumatize an individual. The best way to avoid episodes from slurs is for people to never say them, or mark them for avoidance, hence trigger warnings. I have 'thick skin', but at least I have respect for the sensitive to not say shit that can accidentally harm
