That time I did #tribal #makeup for a project I was working on and it seemed as if nobody "got it". I remember being sad and so upset because I wanted to showcase a traditional makeup look from African culture and it be seen as something original, beautiful and unique. In that moment I realized that feeling that most artist get when they are misunderstood or not understood at all. As I watched the #beyonce visual as an artist I'm happy see her bring African tradition to mainstream.
