I've just gotten an offer to be a singer in the country's premier live band. It's a freaking big deal. I'm going to have to work my butt off to get to the level of the other singers, but the band leader/owner thinks I have potential and is willing to work with me. He says my voice is better than some he's got on now (he overheard me singing in the kitchen shortly after I woke up because he called for me and my idiot siblings didn't tell me I had a phone call) but I'm not letting myself even her that. I'm invited to an event tonight to hear and see and get a feel for the performance side of it, and I'm super freaking excited because I've always wanted to be a singer so all I'm seeing is EXPERIENCE and OPPORTUNITY..... And my mum says if I accept she's kicking me out. Not only has she once again practically kicked me in the face when I've finally got something good going for me, she's basing her opinion off what she thinks this band is. She thinks I'm going to be singing in nightclubs or some ish, I don't even know because she didn't ask and won't say, just doing that ultimatum-and-silent-treatment crap. The fuck does this look like? I'm twenty two freaking years old. Above anything else, I'm old enough to make my own decisions and deal with the consequences. And even if I wasn't, but was still determined to do this, a smart mother would have kept me close, been front and center at all my events and present to cart me home safely so as to avoid all 'negative influences' not practically shove me into the arms of who she think may hurt me. There's no logic in that. I think she wants me to have the same life she does. Avoid all the people. Have the first child at 25. Avoid all the people some more. Fall subject to the male manipulation for kids 2-4 again. Avoid all the people. Live the stunted, sheltered, unproductive life. No. No thank you. Nope. Do not want. But what did she think would happen though? I've been singing my entire life, literally. I used to have performances in my living room with my stuffed animals as an audience, I learned 'I Still Believe' before I turned 10! I've been singing and stretching and practicing and writing my own songs for years. Did she think I was playing around? Did she think it was a game? I don't know. Probably never will. She refuses to have an actual conversation with anyone. None of this would be even remotely bad if I could afford an apartment, even one to share. But my boss is an ass and owes me two weeks of salary, plus we haven't worked for three weeks, this week's looking to be a fourth, so I won't be getting paid for...a while. And I don't have a degree or much managerial experience, so I can't really find another job though I've been applying like mad everywhere. I just...cannot with this. So I won't. That's the end of my rant. Giving it to God and leaving it alone.

I dunno. Maybe I'm finally growing up. But I don't like it.
