Water is Life
"As soon as it gets dark take 5 milk jugs from under the sink and get water" my mom said to me and my older brother like it was fucking normal. It was normal to us. I was probably 5-6? It was summer time, thank goodness. It got dark at 9 ish. We grabbed the jugs and ventured to the next door neighbor's backyard. She must've known, although she was old so maybe not... We filled all 5 jugs from her hose as quiet as we could and carried them home and into the bathroom. "Bath time, kids! Littlest to biggest. Get in here" says mom..... The 2 younger than me cried and fussed while mom poured cold water on them, soaped them up, then more cold water. We each got a jug. My turn. Naturally, I couldn't stop laughing. Crying didn't seem helpful or even so much as an option. My mom understood. She pointed it out just to let me know she noticed. It's sorta been my theme. Laughter is magic.
