Saint Millie • "Let's Get High"
St. Millie has been one of the most consistent faces around the city for soem time and yesterday the Treated Crew affiliate returned with a new one for the tokers in his latest single "Lets Get High" produced by Lucas G that comes on the heels of what was surely a smoke-filled SXSW in Austin, TX. This one takes a much more subdued tone that associated tracks from Millie that have found their way to the public in the last few weeks.
Here we get some heavy handed drums with a sort of smooth backing production that'll set the tone for a nice early Saturday kick back in no time. Millie has been biding his time with a string of like-minded singles for a minute now but appears to be gearing up for a new project, apparently titled Adderall that is due to drop April 29. For now, Let's Get High.
Mic Terror • I Don't Call Cops
Mic Terror knows what time it is, and certainly wasn't born yesterday. The silver-tongued lyrical muscle behind Treated Crew has been known to spit fire, and can take care of himself, thank you very much. Now he's dropped "I Don't Call The Cops", and is taking on the heavy topic of police abuse, misconduct and general incompetence. It's a serious and very real subject matter that Mic Terror approaches with some well executed levity. Nobody applies rap swag to the humdrum of day-to-day life like Treated Crew, and few can wordsmith it up like Mic Terror. Produced by Akonixx, the beat is a cascade of strings and subs, weeping violins that recognize the tears behind these words. For all the good humored braggadocio, it's pretty freakin' sad that this is an honest problem citizens of Chicago have.
On a related note, today is the day to vote! Anita Alvarez is up for re-election. Just sayin'.
