Long ago, Devildom originally belonged to the fae, who were its native inhabitants. When demons overthrew them and took control of the realm, the fae were forced to flee to the mortal realm, becoming Earth’s main magical species. This exile explains why fae are rarely mentioned in celestial or infernal records, they essentially vanished from both Heaven and Hell’s awareness. (Or at least weren't seen as important much)

On Earth, the fae naturally grew close to humans, becoming mediators between mortals and other supernatural beings. In celestial eyes, fae were seen as “earth workers,” while demons viewed them as enemies. This tension led to their deep connection with the human world, where they rebuilt their culture and magic.

When the demons took over Devildom, they also seized the fae’s original source of magic. To survive, the fae developed a new system by piecing together fragments of magic from other realms, this became their name-based magic, a weakened offshoot of demonic contract magic. By using someone’s name, fae could temporarily draw or borrow, or steal magical energy from that person. Over time, as fae spread among humans and hid their power, magic faded into myth within human history.

In humanity’s early days, fae were seen as monstrous or sinister, still bearing traces of their Devildom origins. But as centuries passed, they adapted to Earth’s gentler environment, evolving into beings more closely tied to nature, mystery, and beauty rather than chaos.

Today, faefolk don’t hate demons, but centuries of betrayal left them wary and distrustful. Meanwhile, many Devildom beasts are theorized to be fae who were left behind and evolved into animalistic forms to survive the infernal realm’s harsh conditions.

This is based on how devildom was ruled by faries before! So i wanted to explore it more. I wanted the fae to be a neutral party between heaven and hell. Still brainstorming but this is gist.
