And to make matters worse, they protected Charlotte (which okay, she was 12, I get it), but then Bellamy beat him up until Clarke decided they should banish him…so he gets hung for something he didn’t do, gets rightfully angry about it, overreacts (although understandably after something as traumatic as that), and then they continue to treat him like a murderer, so he becomes one. He gets banished and captured by the grounders who torture him for 3 days because even though the sky people treated him like shit, they’re still his people, so it took 3 days before he gave up anything. Even when Murphy is at his worst, you see these parts of him shining through, the parts that are loyal, that are vulnerable, that just wants a friend who doesn’t betray him because he’s not a perfect person. I swear I belong on like the murphy defense squad cause this boy. I was complaining yesterday because people are always “the 100 writers are shitting all over the poc representation in this show. they kill off characters like anya and wells for shock value and their white princess saves the day….” although she did kill an entire mountain of write rich folks with children, but you know whatever. But no one talks about how the writers shit all over Murphy cause yes, he’s the whitest white boy to ever white and first they go and write him as this extremely 2 dimensional antagonist asshole and then spend two seasons beating the crap out of him and using him for sarcastic comic relief. He may still be alive, but he’s the writer’s punching bag (oh but look we gave him a tragic back story, great…so now when you beat the crap out of him we can feel bad about it. i already felt bad about it, but thanks guys). And I’m really just hoping since they finally decided to make him a series regular that they’ll treat him a little better.
