Dual Rulers Re-Writes to go with my “Unika is my OC” AU
Basically a Redo of the Ending and the Dizzy and Ky Wedding because I have many thoughts!
Overall it’s very funny to me that for Unika; the end of Dual Rulers, her Arcade Mode Story, and all her Family’s Win Lines against her are basically her going “I must leave because I don’t want to burden my family” and all them going “cute, dinner’s at 7, see you there”.
So here’s me going “no she actually gets to stay with them” as opposed to Canon.
The full rewrite of the end of Dual Rulers. Starts with redoing the last episode and goes till Unika is in the future. The DizzyKy wedding is mentioned but that written in more detail lower. This is mostly for my Unika AU so only that stuff is ironed out and the rest is just bullet points I would’ve liked to see.
I feel like there’s a distinct point where the plot suddenly moves very fast when they go to confront Neville (I wanna say episode 6? I don’t remember). Unika being from the future is cool and Neville’s whole thing isn’t but the whole interaction gets wild very fast compared to the slow build thus far. And everything after that point does feel kinda rushed.
Mostly I think the whole brief Gear apocalypse should have more focus (Dragon Install Sin maybe cough cough). So like we flash to all our Playable and Main Characters for a little bit instead of just brief shots. They could even be grouped to make it easier (Chipp and Answer helping Zepp, Deliah and the Bed staying with Anji which Baiken is doing this job thing, Millia and Zato helping Leo, etc.) but I do understand like cool glamor shots of all the characters fighting was just kinda out of budget. But I do feel it’s a big deal and should have more focus as like a now known possibility to the public that Sin and Unika (and therefore Dizzy too) are capable of causing another Gear war.
The point where I feel everything gets really rushed is the last two or so episodes, right after the point where Sol launches Sin in the anomaly (though Sol physically throwing Sin at it is very funny to me). Like I feel they wanted to do a really cool massive fight scene where Sin and Unika team up but lost budget so it’s more of a weird trip instead.
So the fight against Neville actually gets to involve both Sin and Unika Dragon Installing and using their combined powers. And Axl being recused from Neville’s tentacles is actually a plot point. Cause like I do feel like the Axl and time travel plot point was meant to have more focus and deserves it. Sol and Axl friendship content pls.
After the fight and things settle, Unika's not sure what she should do but her family insists she’s allowed to stay with them, so she does. She gets to bond with her family, get acquainted with non-apocalypse life (has she ever eaten normal food fr), go to her parents wedding, and just be a kid.
Sol looks into how Neville was able to utilize Axl’s power (and check on Axl) and realizes that it’ll wear off eventually. Unfortunately they only get the exact details just as the magic starts up to send Unika back. Obviously she panics because she doesn’t want to go back to how things were. But Sol tell her that isn’t how it’ll work, since the future she is from is changed now she should just end up farther in the timeline (so from their perspective when she born and then older she’ll get her memories back). Sin gets to hug her and so do Ky and Dizzy (El misses her chance cause Unika starts fading but she promises she’ll give her a hug when she sees her again!!!). They all tell her they love her, will do their best to raise her, and will see her again in (I’m assuming future Unika is like) 6 Years. They’re all worried if it’ll actually work out, hoping she gets to be happy.
From Unika’s perspective, suddenly she’s in the future standing in front of a door in the castle (it’s their house's door, the kitchen/dining room to be exact). She opens it to see Ky and Dizzy making/setting up dinner with Sol sitting at the table, Sin walks in the room with El and Ram. They welcome her home and she starts crying (happy but overwhelmed tears), Sin is actually the first to piece together what happened and hugs her. They all slowly realize what happened. She passes out because low and behold having two sets of memories is a bit overwhelming for the brain.
Unika wakes up in bed being cuddled (head on Dizzy’s lap Sin laying next to her, Ky sitting next to Dizzy). They talk she’s a bit out of it trying to balance with perspective to see things from. El finally gives her that hug.
The next week she’s kinda jumpy trying to sort herself out. They give her space but also love. About a week in, Sin finally asks her something (idk how to phrase it) while they’re alone and she breaks down and tells him everything she's been struggling with and they hug. Then he helps her tell everyone else and more hugs.
Rewrite of the end of Dual Rules. Redo of Ky and Dizzy’s wedding because what was that? The original wedding (that Unika crashed) was more of a political event and Ky honestly didn’t want that but knew it had to happen so he tried to make it as good as he could. But now they have a chance to redo it and Sol insists they drop the political crap and have just family and friends. So they do (basically 90% of playable characters and main non-playable characters get to come this time) and it's a mess. Only half the guests are wearing formal wear, they party hard and messily eat and drink, at least one fist fight happens. But Dizzy and Ky wouldn’t have it any other way. Particularly there needs to be a scene where, they’re sitting giddy and clothed askew, they have back and forth talking about everything that went wrong but it ends with “would you have it any other way though?” “Of course not.” Because bless this mess they love their family.
Clothes Formal vs Casual Breakdown:
Daryl and Leo both wear formal clothes. El made Sin, Ram, and Unika wear formal clothes, Bridget wears formal clothes (Dizzy and Ky gave Unika the dress El just has the other prepared). Anji and Deliah wear formal clothes but Baiken just changes into clean clothes. Johnny wears not formal but nice clothes but still no shirt, all the jellyfish pirates follow suit and wear their normal clothes, Testament wears formal clothes and is mildly appalled Johnny did not. Axl doesn’t wear formal clothes because he doesn’t own any (Ky says they could’ve loaned him some?). Sol wears half formal clothes (dress pants and a nice shirt but not fully buttoned and no tie) but everyone knows it’s the most they’re getting out of him and it’s actually pretty nice of him to do that much. Jacko wears formal clothes.
Future Unika being from the apocalypse has never eaten many types of food and Sin thinks this is the biggest offense ever so he has her try most of the food. Low and behold Sin’s appetite is genetic and they bond over it. Ram takes off her shoes not even halfway through the ceremony. Ram’s dog ends up at the party somehow. Giovanna's dog and Ram’s dog end up chasing each other around. Johnny and Baiken get into a drinking contest. Someone trips and breaks a table (it is not Sin he almost did but managed to save it at the last minute). The music gets hijacked and rock is played for the rest of the reception. Ky takes off his suit jacket only for it to go missing (someone spilled something on it). Dizzy laughs so hard at one point she spills wine on her dress (it was Undine and Nerco’s fault).
Future Unika is still here because this is right before she goes back/to the new future.
