So, I'm not much of a horror person. However, The Backrooms is something that I enjoy greatly as I like the concept of liminal spaces and The Backrooms has that element of horror with the different entities and what not.
I didn't want to play just any game about The Backroom because I know there are a lot, no, I wanted to find the best game with The Backrooms as the setting. A Google search later and here I am with Transliminal and this game is great.
I've only been on one play through and have only seen a handful of the levels because this game does the Minecraft thing of using procedural generation so that everything is changing. As of now, I have seen Level 0 (extensively), The Blacktops, the Poolroom, The Pipes, and The Hotel. I know that there are plenty more levels.
I've only run into a few entities myself. The one I've mainly run into, of course, are smilers. The Pipes also had moths that only attack light so, keep the flashlight off. There is also some sort of mist thing on Blacktops but those are easy to avoid too.
But yeah, the game has been pretty fun and intriguing, even if it can be a little unfair sometimes. There's been times where a smiler gets me, I respawn and then one gets me again. Also, the first time I took the elevator and it went down to The Pipes and the doors open and a smilers gets me right there. Not really fair but nothing I can really do about it. It's a fun game, it really is.
I just want to say that as something that has an interest in The Backrooms, yes, I've see the Kane Pixel videos and have read the original lore and I personally like the combine the two. Like, for example, when I see people go back and forth about Level 0 being safe and completely free from entities like, even Transliminal goes against that idea. The single most place I've been attacked by smilers is Level 0. I've also run into spores but that's not an entity. I don't know much about those larger entities in Kane Pixel's videos and if those would, in lore, roam level 0 but yeah.
Anyway, definitely give Transliminal a go if you enjoy The Backrooms.
