Who or what inspires you in your practice of Heathenry?

Y’all, mainly. I don’t really recognise inspiration as a concrete thing that happens to me (not saying it doesn’t, just that I don’t recognise it when it does so I can’t gather data on it), but I know that I’ve gotten a lot of good ideas and good concepts and support from this pale blue microcosm, so, sure. Y’all.

Which god/goddess do you feel the most connection to? Describe the nature of your relationship with that god/goddess (if any).

Well, like I said… apparently it’s a package deal for me, and not just one or the other or the Third. I thought I moved from Heimdall to Loki, I thought I moved from both of them to Odin, and now that someone’s turned the damn interior light on I realise that all three of them were in this vehicle the whole time. One without the others or even two without the other just… doesn’t make as much sense. It’s like watching a movie where one of the main characters has been blocked out Black Mirror-style.

I don’t really know what our relationship is like, so I guess I’ll be allegorical (but also literal). Bastard is the driver, and Snake is the adventurer, and Lookout is the vision. Lookout knows where we’ve been and where we’re going, and he knows me, and he wants most to protect us, even if only in small ways. (”If you must descend into Surtr’s realm, at least take these Nalgenes with you.”) Snake wants to test everything, wants to mess with everything, pours sugar in the gas tank so we’ll have to find a new way to the next place; finds the good libations so we can get proper plastered for Peak Shenanigans; you know, that sort of thing. (”How will Lookout here have any stories to tell if we don’t make any stories?!”) And Bastard is both of them, kind of – the instigator and the seer, but also the… like, the enduring temporary. Is that a phrase? The constant inconstant. The Paradox, I guess. And paradoxes are the kind of thing that make you want to Know More, so I guess that does make a weird kind of sense. (They’re also rather unnerving, but that’s okay. Even Lookout has to close his eyes sometimes. Even Snake weeps. No shame in it.)

Which is your favorite section/story from the Eddas?

Let’s be real – it’s been some years since I actually read the damn thing, and considering I didn’t have the resources that I do now, I didn’t understand half of it. Which obviously means I need to reread, but uh…. yeah, about that. *snicker*
