It took Ratchet decades to feel normal again.

I find myself unsure, whether I am running to you or you are to me,

🛠️ Sparkplug grew up in, and is living in a time when same sex relationships are highly frowned upon. I don’t think Sparkplug would be homophobic, I actually think he’d be supportive if he had any queer friends or family. But internalized biphobia had/has a chokehold on him. I think he wonders what his wife would think if she saw him falling for a 20ft robot man.

🚑 Then he meets Ratchet. Cybertronians don’t have the same prejudices as humans. To a medic that’s seen millions of years of death and destruction, Sparkplug’s sexuality seems (to him) like a nothing burger. And it scares him that something so natural causes Sparkplug so much strife.

And then, there’s immortality.

Ratchet knows Sparky isn’t gonna be around forever.
