(Transformers: Prime) Ratchet x Reader" Snowy Rescue
You're away on a business trip, hoping to get some distance from the craziness that is life on Team Prime -and a certain medic- but things don't go as planned.
Word Count:Â 1,960
Warnings: Snowy weather, car incident (nothing graphic)
You leaned forward in your car, squinting as if that would help you see through the haze of the white-out blizzard. The harsh, wintery scene on the other side of your windshield worsened by the minute.
In driving conditions that were so far below ideal, memories of a sunny day in Jasper played across your mind like a slideshow. Youâd think it was some tropical vacation spot with the way you exhaled in a sigh that was just short of wistful as you struggled to keep the car in your lane. The nearest snowbank that lined the route seemed to be calling out to your vehicle, making it sway this way and that as the tires slid.
If you didnât know any better, youâd suspect this rental car to be an undercover Decepticon trying to foil your travel plans back to the hotel.
Perhaps it hadnât been the best idea venturing out at this hour in the evening, but you couldnât dismiss the desperate need of comfort food any longer- to hole yourself up in the hotel room with it and watch some TV.
It was all a distraction. The truth was, youâd only been away from home for a few days on business, but the homesickness reigned when the sun went down. It was no longer kept at bay with tasks to keep you busy during daylight hours.
You missed the kids; Jack, Miko, and Raf. You missed Optimus and Bee. Bulkhead and Arcee. Ratchet... Heck, even Fowler crossed your mind as you went down the list of faces you wanted to be surrounded by again.
When youâd first told the group that youâd be out of town for work, Optimus voiced his concern and suggested that a bot accompany you on the trip. You politely refused, telling him he should have all servos on deck in case of something major. There was rising suspicion about impending Decepticon activity.
Truth be told, a small part of you was wondering what it would be like to experience a few normal days without Autobots or Decepticons or the fate of the world at stake. Just a couple days of peace and quiet.
It didnât come as easy to you as you imagined. The quiet in your hotel room each evening was deafening.
Which is why you would do just about anything to not be faced with it right away- including driving around in the middle of a blizzard with dinner bagged up and buckled into the passenger seat.
âI think thereâs a turn here,â you said aloud to no one in particular. âOh. OhâŚNo.âÂ
It all happened so quickly. The tires began to slide as you took the curve just a tad too fast, and the steering wheel resisted your attempts to correct.Â
âNo, no, no!â You shrieked as the entire vehicle skidded to the right and sailed straight into the ditch.
You sat there in shock for a moment, the entire world tilted to the right from where you sat in the slope of the ditch. âOh, great,â you grumbled. âThis is just great. Iâm still miles from the hotel.â
Silence.
Sigh.
Your forehead rested against the steering wheel, and the only thing you could see was his faceplate. Those stunning bright blue optics that at times you swore could see right through you. He hadnât said much after the announcement of your business trip, especially after you insisted that no autobots accompany you. Heâd simply blinked at you, the gears turning behind them, and returned to his work with no comment or even a huff at the very least.Â
All this happened simply because youâd wanted some time away from the life and death scenarios...Well, not so much.Â
In reality, what you sought was just a few days without hearing the gruff voice belonging to that exasperated, fussing, scornful, selfless, painstakingly diligent, kind, and most loyal bot.
A humorless laugh escaped you in the car. What had you expected? His insistence on your protection? Ratchet was never one to utter protest if it meant he got to stay behind.
With the car running, you climbed out to better assess the situation. The headlights illuminated the chunks of snow that fell from the sky. You peered at the fender from beneath the hood of your coat. Fortunately, there didnât appear to be any real damage. It was just a matter of getting the vehicle pulled out. You hurried back into the car, shuddering, and took out your phone to search for the nearest tow company.
Just when you were about to dial the number, a piercing ring sounded from your device as the screen lit up. Rafâs name was displayed, and you couldnât help but smile as you answered.
âHi Raf, whatâs up?â
âHi,â he greeted on the other end. âThe bots are on a mission, so itâs a bit quiet around here. I just wanted to see how your trip was going!â
Your smile softened. What a sweetheart he was. And youâd be lying if hearing a familiar voice wasnât exactly what you needed right there and then.
âOh, itâs going,â you replied, peering out the window. âI, uh⌠Iâm having a bit of car trouble.â
âCar trouble?â
âYeah, Iâm actually stuck in a ditch.â
âYouâre stuck in a ditch?â Raf repeated loudly in disbelief, and you heard another familiar, gruff voice in the background.
âShe what?â
You covered the phone mic to hide your stifled chuckle as something metal clanged to the floor on the other end. Once the commotion had settled, Raf spoke again.
âAre you okay? Youâre not hurt at all, are you?â
âIâm fine,â you said. âA little worried about the rental car. It doesnât look bad, but itâs hard to say how bad it is until it gets towed out. Iâm out in the middle of nowhere.â
There was muffled talk, like Raf was repeating what you said to another. Then, there was that low voice from before again, saying,
âTell her Iâm coming.â
Then, you heard Rafâs voice again, clearly. âHey, you still there? Ratchet says heâs coming to help.â
âItâs fine, really. Thereâs no need. Iâm about to call a tow truck,â you rambled, panicking at the thought of the autobot medic leaving his post to deal with something so silly when you could handle it yourself.
You could picture Raf shaking his head. Once Ratchet made up his mind, thereâd be no swaying it. âItâs too late, heâs locked onto your location and is activating the ground bridge now.â
A bright blue swirling light cut through the snowy darkness, growing in size until the orange and white autobot stepped through it, and then it closed behind him. His piercing optics shone beautifully as they immediately found you. You could hear the soft tic tic tic of snow clumps hitting the metal surface of Ratchetâs form.
You heaved a sigh and climbed out of the tilted vehicle once more, and Ratchet knelt down, one of his servos cupping around you as if to catch you if you stumbled.
âAre you sure youâre alright?â he asked.
You nodded. âYes, Iâm fine. I wasnât injured.â
He gave a sigh of relief before looking at the car. âYouâre fortunate.â
âI suppose it couldâve been worse,â you conceded with a shiver.
Ratchet reached over to carefully lift the vehicle from the snowy ditch and set it back down on the road with ease. You approached it, avoiding his gaze as relief washed over you to see that it was all in one piece. His optics were narrowed as they surveyed the path ahead, and he scoffed.
âItâs no wonder this happened. These driving conditions are extremely hazardous.â
You gave a small shrug as if to say, âit is what it is,â and Ratchet eyed you. âI only have a few miles to go.â
âNot in this you donât,â he replied, and you looked up at him in confusion. âCome back to Base for the night.â Before you could voice any protests, he continued, âIâll groundbridge you back in the morning for work.â
Standing there, eyes traveling the length of the icy road before you as it faded away into the white out, Ratchetâs offer was beyond appealing. Your heart warmed at the notion of crashing on the Base couch for the night- as you had many times before. After this ordeal, you were exhausted, and falling asleep to the soft glow of the television on the loft with the sounds of keys typing and the clinking of test tubes in the background was what you wanted more than anything.
âOkay,â you agreed finally, and Ratchet lifted a servo to communicate with Raf- a request for a groundbridge. You got into the car and shut the door, lips pressed firmly together in a line as the luminous vortex appeared once more, and Ratchet stepped aside to let you through first.
You carefully drove through and found yourself smiling again as you found yourself in the middle of the Base. Ratchetâs heavy footsteps approached behind, and you got out of the car.
âThank you.â
He merely gave a nod before heading back to his station, and Raf came running over.
âHey! You okay?â
âYeah, everythingâs good. I guess Iâm staying here tonight.â
. . . . . . . . . . . . .
Later that evening, after feasting on your boxed dinner, you were all settled in comfy clothes, warm, safe, and sprawled out on the couch with a quilt covering your form. The other autobots had returned, and all the kids were taken home by their guardians. Even though the television was on, your full attention was on Ratchet in your peripheral. Aside from his usual grumbling about the others making noise before, he hadnât said much. Despite having said, âthank youâ when first returning to Base, something was amiss. It felt like there was more to be said, but what? You werenât sure.
You turned, finally, to observe him without reservation. Resting your chin on the back of the couch, eyes following his enormous form as he moved between the computer and a table of experiments.
Ratchet returned to the computer and began typing again. Without looking up, he cleared his throat quietly and asked, âsomething on your mind?â
âThank you for coming to make sure I was alright, for getting my car out of the ditch, andâŚfor bringing me back here.â
He hummed in acknowledgement, and then paused, servo halted mid-type. âThings weren't the same.â
âHm?â You shifted on the couch to tuck your knees under.Â
âWhile you were away,â he clarified, his optics meeting your gaze. âThis place wasnât the same. Iâm aware that you wished to take some time away, and I respected that. No matter how concerned I was that you were going unprotected.â
You smiled at his confession, and decided it was time to add your own. âI thought I wanted a few ânormalâ days away from all this, but⌠as it turns out, it doesnât sit well with meâ
The corner of his mouth curled in a rare, roguish half-smile before shifting to grab a tool from his work bench. You were unable to take your eyes off him, wondering if youâd catch that expression on him again anytime soon.
The two of you talked for a little longer. You inquired about his project, and Ratchet in turn asked about your business trip (aside from the ditch incident, that is). Before long, your eyelids were growing heavy, and it was nearly impossible to remain sitting up. You curled up in that nest of blankets on the couch and breathed a sigh. Tomorrow would be another day of meetings and reports, but for now, youâd enjoy being back home for the night. The beeps and bwoops of autobot tech while Ratchet worked lulled you into a comfortable sleepâŚ

Tfp vehicon reader that can actually aim well and almost pushes the Autobots into retreating.
I had this one sitting in drafts for a while now. My inspiration was wondering what would happen if just a single vehicon could actually aim in the show. I noticed they have the aiming ability of a Storm Trooper and couldn't hit a target if they were sitting still.
I may turn this into a series though, I really like this concept.
Team Prime would take a surprising amount of time to finally notice that only one vehicon is causing them any real damage. They're so used to the same old fights. Vehicons swarm them, but they're pretty weak and can't aim all that well, and either Megatron or Starscream has to step in to drive off the team.
Optimus and Arcee are the first to notice however, watching you take a good defensive position from behind a boulder between two walls, blasting away at the both of them with near pinpoint accuracy. So much so that both Autobots agreed they needed to retreat further back into the treelines. Vehicon blasters are pretty weak, but you're getting enough hits in on their frames that their very metal is starting to dent and scorch from the constant trauma.
They're left wondering in fear now if the Deceptions started training their vehicons seriously with new blasters or if this is a new member of sorts that joined without their notice. Either way, Arcee convinces Optimus you were the main target for now. They needed to get the heat off of them before proceeding with the mission.
-
You ducked behind the stone that was your current defense, catching a moment to check your blaster to ensure it didn't overheat. These things were stupidly designed for Primus knows what reason...the stupid thing kept overheating forcing you to take cover after just one round of shooting your targets. You could've driven the two Autobots further back by now.
You knew it was dangerous separating from the other vehicons like this, but you also knew they couldn't aim for scrap and would probably be offline by now if they tried fighting Arcee and Optimus head on. Besides, you were in a good spot that neither Autobot could get into. The Prime wouldn't be able to fit between the walls and the femme couldn't come in without getting blasted in the face. It was a win in your opinion. Your vehicon friends don't get blasted while you distract the Autobots and wait for backup.
Backup didn't come though.
It had been half an hour now since Optimus and Arcee were pushed further back into the nearby forest from your gunfire. Every attempt to just go around was met with several blasts far too close to the helm and Arcee was beginning to lose her patience. Optimus needed a plan and he needed one soon if they wanted any hope of getting passed you and get into the mines, mines that were unfortunately too small to groundbridge into.
It made sense that Ratchet would call by now, asking what happened and why he hadn't heard from either bots for so long. Arcee explained in detailed the current situation with the dangerous vehicon leaving a very surprised Ratchet snorting in disbelief. A vehicon? Come on, it's probably some fancy new weapon, we all know vehicons can't aim that well. Right?
Optimus cut in affirming the situation and requested backup via groundbridge at a specific location, they needed backup fast before the other vehicons inside the mines left with the energon.
-
Your shoulders slouched as you ducked below the stone once more after a quick peak. Both the Autobots and yourself have started shooting less and less. You were under the assumption that they must have been getting low on energon too by now. And yet, backup still hadn't arrived for you. Anxiety started to fill your frame as you thought about your past life choices that led you here, not noticing the sound of a groundbridge above your hiding space.
Only when the wall next to you crumbled did you notice your surroundings again. You didn't even have time to register what had happened when a giant green mech practically tackled you to the ground making you shriek in surprise.
-
Bulkhead kept your tiny frame pinned beneath his weight, servos in tight stasis cuffs to ensure you didn't try any last ditch efforts as Optimus and Arcee made their way forward, finally able to get to their goal, albeit lower on energon than they'd like.
Arcee came over to get a good look at you, confirming to Optimus you are just a normal vehicon, nothing noteworthy or special about you or the weapon you were carrying. Optimus paused his trek to the mines for a moment, staring deep into your optics as you lay paralyzed beneath the green wrecker. Of course you mustered up all you could just to glare at him and he quietly commed something to what you assumed were the others.
Within seconds of watching the two disappear into the mines, Bulkhead grabbed your limp frame by the scruff and tossed you through a new groundbridge into the waiting arms of the Autobot medic.

You and Arcee pull up to the parking lot of Ko Burgers, where Jack is leaning over his 10 speed bicycle. You flash back to the day you met Jack, in a situation not unlike the one you are in now. Arcee parks in a spot behind Jack, shuts off her engine, and pops her kickstand out. You tighten the ponytail that your h/c hair is in and take a deep breath.
âNice bike, Jack,â you say, and the teen whips around at the sound of your voice. âPersonally I think this blue one here looks better. She matches your eyes.âÂ
You smirk and dismount Arcee, walking over to where Jack stands.
âY/n, really, Miko already tried. And Arcee, if Optimus sent you tell him I respect him big time, but if youâre at war with the Decepticons, thereâs nothing I can do to help,â says Jack, turning around so his back faces us.Â
âOptimus didnât send me, and no oneâs asking for your help,â says Arcee behind you.
âOk, so if we both agree that Iâm not warrior materialâŚâ Jack trails off.
âJack, just yesterday I followed you onto the Decepticon Warship because you were worried that Miko was in danger. You could have waited and called for backup, you probably should have anyway, but without even thinking you left the safety of the Autobot base to rescue her!â You exclaim.
âWell yeah, but we ended up getting captured, didnât we?â Jack argues, facing you again.
âBut we escaped. Jack, I watched as you saved all of our lives multiple times. In that room when the Decepticon was shooting at Raf, who tackled him out of the way so that he wouldnât get shot? And in the hallway when that Decepticon head was about to squish Miko, who pulled her out of the way? And when that explosion knocked out my hearing, who grabbed my hand and led me to safety? Jack, you risked your life to protect ours. And you say youâre not warrior material?â You say, flinging out your hands for emphasis.
Jack frowns and rubs the back of his neck, looking at the ground.
âI didnât want any of you guys to get hurt,â he says quietly, turning around and grabbing his bike. âBesides, Iâm not a warrior. I didnât ask for any of this to happen to me.âÂ
Jack mounts his bike and gets ready to leave. You bite your lip and mount Arcee, but before you leave you say, âFate rarely calls upon us at a moment of our choosing, Jack.â
You can see that it struck a nerve, because Jack hesitates; you can practically see his mind working over what you just said. He looks at you and you can tell that what you said works.
âDo you think anyone would be glad to see me back?â He asks with a small smile.
âI can think of a few people. Besides, I think Arcee really missed you,â you say, matching his smile.
âIâm right here you know,â says Arcee indignantly.Â
You and Jack laugh and head to Jackâs home to drop off his bike. You get off and let Jack sit in the front of Arcee with you on the back. Smiling to yourself, youâre glad that Optimus was right, Jack could come back if he chose to. With a little convincing.
When you, Arcee, and Jack pull into the base, all the Autobots are facing the ground bridge, ready to go somewhere.
âHey. Guess whoâs back?â Asks Jack, pulling his white motorcycle helmet off.
âAutobots, prepare for departure,â says Optimus, ignoring Jack.
âOuch, sounds like youâve been missed,â you say to Jack teasingly, to which Jack responds by lightly punching your non-injured shoulder.
âWhere too?â Asks Arcee, stepping forward.
âThe final frontier!â Says Miko in a dramatic voice.
Your eyes widen and you inhale slightly. âWoah, you guys are going to space?â
âI thought they didnât have a way to get there?â Asks Jack.
âThey donât, really,â says Raf, being lowered to the ground by Bumblebee.
You frown and look over to Cliffjumper, who is standing by Ratchetsâ med bay. You jog over to him and he crouches down on one knee, wearing a smile that doesnât quite reach his eyes.
âHey y/n. So, space huh? Should be fun.â
âYou better come back in one piece, Cliff,â you say and your frown deepens.
Ratchet said the ground bridge could transport the Autobots to anywhere on Earth, but what about outside of Earth?Â
âOh, donât worry about me! Nothingâs going to happen to me,â says Cliffjumper.
âYou donât know that,â you say, looking away from Cliffjumper. âAnd this time, I wonât be hiding with a rock to throw at any Decepticons that want to mess with you.âÂ
Your brows crease with worry and unease, but Cliffjumper waves a dismissive hand.Â
âYouâre such a worrier! Iâll be fine y/n,â he says and you look up uncertainly at Cliffjumpersâ bright blue eyes. They are filled with determination and confidence, but you can see the anxiety he tucks away.Â
âBesides,â adds Cliffjumper, âYou canât get rid of me that easily! Youâre stuck with meââ
âFor the long haul,â you finish, smiling at the frase that you and Cliffjumper had started saying to each other, and place your hand on his bright red arm. The metal was cool and patchy in some places, scuff marks showing signs of the many battles the bot had been in.Â
âI guess I canât get rid of you that easily,â you say and Cliffjumper winks at you.
âCliffjumper, it is time to go,â Optimus says, standing next to the ground bridge that Ratchet has already powered up. Cliffjumper stands and nods to the tall bot.
âSee you soon, Cliff,â you say. âBring me back something cool.â
âYa got it,â says Cliffjumper, walking over to the other Autobots.
The two parts of Optimusâ battle mask slide together and he yells, âAutobots, roll out!â
You watch as Cliffjumper transforms into his sleek Dodge Challenger and follows Optimus through the vortex of green and purple swirling light. And then the Autobots disappear into the light, transported to the stars. Ratchet closes the portal and mans his battle station, bringing up all of the Autobotsâ signals on his computer monitor.
You walk over to Ratchet and silently climb up the ladder to the platform with the human sized computers. You reach the railing facing the medic and swing your legs over the bar so you can sit on the railing. Ratchet briefly glances over your direction before turning back  and promptly ignoring you. You arenât bothered by this and instead turn to watch as Jack, Miko, and Raf start climbing the ladder behind you. They all find seats next to the computers and you turn back to listen intently to the comm chatter, but you canât hear very well and start to worry.Â
Did the Autobots make it through the ground bridge? Is Cliffjumper ok? Whatâs going on?
You didnât know what was going on and you didnât like it. You think you hear something so you lean closer to the computers, but quickly lose your balance. The cool metal railing skims your back and you let out a sharp intake of air as you start to fall through the air. A flash of white, orange, and silver fill your vision and you find yourself in the palm of Ratchetâs hand.
âY/n! What were you doing? You need to be more careful! You could have gotten hurt if you fell,â Ratchet says sternly.
âI-Iâm sorry, Ratchet. I couldnât hear the comms and I was worried,â you mumble.
Ratchet stares at you a few moments before setting you gently back on the platform.Â
âThey made it through just fine.âÂ
Miko immediately asks if you are ok and you nod quickly as you release a deep breath and relief floods through you as you lean against the railing. You watch as Ratchet turns up the volume of the comm channel, and you can hear Optimusâ low voice speaking.
âWithout the dish, Megatron will be unable to aim the space bridge towards Cybertron.â
âDonât the Decepticons know where their own planet is?â Asks Raf.
âNaturally,â scoffs Ratchet, âbut Cybertron is many light years away. To reach their target their aim must be astronomically precise.â
âBecause if the Decepticons are even a few centimeters off, over that great of a distance it could be miles off, right?â You ask.
âThat is correct, y/n,â Answers Ratchet.
âIf Megatron went to the trouble of rendezvous with his space bridge, he must have an alternate targeting system,â says Optimus. âA remote one.â
âHmph,â scoffs Ratchet. âFrom what I know of Earthâs technology, I doubt there exists a single radio telescope dish on this planet powerful enough to pinpoint Cybertron.â
âWhat about a whole bunch of linked radio telescope dishes?â Asks Raf, typing away on his laptop, and all eyes turn to the boy.
âLike that giant group of dishes in Texas?â You ask, picking up on what Raf is thinking.
âAh ah ahh this is not childâs play!â Retorts Ratchet, leaning closer to you and Raf.
âGood thinking Raf and y/n,â Optimus says through the comms. âRatchet, have Agent Fowler alert the array staff to the security hazard.â
Just then everyone looks to Agent Fowler who is laying in a medical bed. He sits up and yells to no one in particular, âHey! Soldier! Youâre out of uniform! Put on some pants,â and then slumps back down on the bed.
You at Ratchet share an incredulous look before he says, âThat...may be a challenge.â
âUh, my Dad works for the military. Maybe if someone logs into the network, they could pose as one of my Dadâs superiors and use their clearance to evacuate the security? But they'd have to bypass the firewallâŚall three of them,â you offer.
âThat might work,â says Raf, although he looks unconvinced. âCan you get to the main website?â
You furrow your eyebrows in concentration and bite your lower lip, trying to remember the url address. You saw it a few times when your dad gave his mission reports. Nodding your head, you type in the address and work on getting past the firewalls. You type like a madman, but the code was a tricky one.
âWait wait wait, you both know how to hack?â Asks Miko disbelievingly.
âI have a lot of free time,â you shrug.
But nothing you do seems to be working, and you sigh in frustration.
âLet me try, y/n,â offers Raf.
âPlease, be my guest,â you say, hands gesturing to the laptop and standing back so Raf could work his magic.Â
Two hackers are better than one, right?
He types furiously for a few minutes before shaking his head and saying, âI canât get past the erase firewalls, theyâre too thick!â
âI didnât say it would be easy,â you mutter under your breath.
âYou two, actually think you can keep the Decepticons out?â Asks Ratchet cautiously.
âMaybe. If we could get in,â Raf says.Â
âWait Raf, y/n, what if we could get you all the way in. Like, inside the building in?â Questions Jack.
âOf course! We wouldnât have to bypass the firewalls because we would just be able to use the computers already in the building!â You exclaim.
âAnd then one of us could log into their internal network,â finishes Raf.
âThis could work,â you murmur.
âThe risk is too great, the Decepticons will be there. Perhaps even on site,â says Optimus from the comms, making Jack frown and step forward.
âOptimus, with all due respect you said it yourself, this is bigger than the safety of four humans.â
âYeah, if we let the Decepticons win,â adds Miko, âweâre fragged along with everyone else on our planet.â
âRaf?â Asks Optimus.
You look over to Raf and he meets your gaze, nodding and then turning back to the computer.
âI want to give it a shot,â says Raf confidently.
âAnd y/n?â Asks Optimus.
âLetâs do it,â you grin.
âThen Ratchet, ready the ground bridge,â commands Optimus.
âOptimus, are you sure this is wise, leaving the fate of the planet to a bunch of children?â
Asks Ratchet, although he is already typing the coordinates into the ground bridge.
âThey are the only chance we have in stopping Megatron from destroying Earth.âÂ
âYou gotta have faith in us, Ratchet,â you say.
Ratchet hesitates for a moment, hand hovering over the lever to activate the ground bridge. You think you see a flash of an emotion cross over his face, one that you canât place, but it clears as soon as it appears, before Ratchet pulls the lever. You watch as the ground bridge powers up and you are the first one to slide down the ladder. The other kids follow as you begin walking through the ground bridge, shivering as a strange sensation surrounds your body. It feels like your bones are shivering and you get that same feeling you get when you're on a roller coaster thatâs going upside down. The ground bridge makes a constant whirring sound that makes the ringing in your ears increase tenfold. You plug your ears and step out of the portal, stepping into the hot, dry land of Texas. After a few minutes the ringing quiets down, but doesnât go away entirely.Â
Now that I think about it, that stupid ringing hasnât gone away since I went to save Miko from the Decepticon Warship. Iâll have to talk to Ratchet about that.
âThatâll take some getting used to,â says Jack.
You agree but promptly fall silent as you notice the giant building in front of you with large radio telescope dishes lined up to the sides of the building and a barbed wire fence behind you. Stepping forward, you lead the others into the building and find the main computer room. You step aside and gesture for Raf to sit in front of the computer.Â
He raises an eyebrow and you say, âYouâre a slightly better hacker than me. Slightly.â
Raf nods and hops into the chair, stretching his fingers before typing on the keyboard. You lean on the edge of the desk with the computer, hovering next to Raf.
âShall we play a game?â You joke and Raf snorts.
âIâm in the network,â he says with satisfaction.
You frown and add, âbut so are the Decepticons.â
âHow can you tell?â Jack asks you.
âSee the schematics on the computer?â You point to the computer screen. âThis is the same kind of math that we saw on the Decepticons ship.âÂ
âOnly this time, we can download them,â Raf says while pulling out a flash drive.
âItâs got to be the space bridge,â Miko reasons.
âThe Decepticons are sinking into the dishes, but I can sink to them,â says Raf.
âWill they know?â Asks Jack, leaning closer to the computer screen.
âEven if the Decepticons see that Iâm in the system, theyâll have no idea that Iâm in the house,â Raf explains.
âLook, the Decepticons are locking onto Cybertron,â you point to the computer again.
âNot for long,â says Raf, fingers flying over the keys. âWait, the dishes are heading back towards Cybertron. Iâll just undo that again.â
âWhat happens when the Decepticons find out theyâre being punked?â Asks Jack.
âRafâs only cyber punking the Cons. You know, like when a bunch of people are fighting each other in video games,â you say.
âYeah Jack,â Adds Miko, âwhat are the cons gonna do? Theyâre probably like a thousand miles away.â
Just then the door squeaks and you look behind you to see a weird black and purple colored tube-looking thing. The end that looks at you has a bunch of smaller hanging tentacle-like tubes. You gasp and the thing attacks you, grabbing you with its mouth and sending you flying across the room. Your back hits the wall and you slide down it, feeling dazed. You try to get up and have to dodge to the right as Jack and Miko get flung next to you. You are sure the tube belongs to a Decepticon, which you realize a few moments later is probably in the security building with you. The Decepticon then starts to attack Raf and he has to dodge out of the way as well. All of a sudden you hear Miko yelling and with a running leap pulls out a fire axe out of who knows where, and proceeds to take a swing at the Decepticon. She misses and the Decepticon knocks her against the wall, causing Miko to drop the axe. To your horor, the Con picks up the axe and brandishes it menacingly.
âYou handed it an axe?â Yells Jack.
âNo bueno,â you say flatly as the axe-wielding Decepticon raises the weapon.Â
But then it retracts and takes the axe out of the room.Â
âCome on come on!â You yell as you rush out of the room, following the Decepticon as it speeds down hallways. You donât have time to look behind you to see if the others are following you but the slapping of shoes and the huffing of breath tell you they are. You slam up against a pair of double doors and frantically turn the door knob to reveal a tall black and purple Decepticon standing on the cross beams of the roof. The Decepticon turns around and looks at you with a black, smooth screen, and you can see your reflection in the blank face. Miko pulls out her flip phone and takes a picture of the Decepticon, but the Con also takes a picture of us. He then transforms into a plane and quickly flies away.
âWhy is he leaving?â Asks Miko.
You look down to the mess of intertwined wires leading to different server hard drives and notice the fire axe that the Decepticon had taken from Miko. You crouch down next to the axe and say âHe cut the hard drive wire. Cybertron is locked into the dishes. For good.â
âSurely thereâs a way to unlock the dishes, right y/n?â Asks Jack, but you just shake your head sadly.
âThereâs nothing we can do. The Autobots are on their own. We should ask Ratchet to bridge us back to base.â
The others nod and you call Ratchet to let him know what happened on your phone, walking out of the building to the place where you came in through the bridge. You walk through the ground bridge and back to base where Ratchet waits.
âThe Decepticons may have a lock on Cybertron, but there is still a way to shut down the space bridge,â says Ratchet.
You and the other kids walk over to the platform next to Ratchetsâ computers and climb the ladder, Raf sitting at one of the computers, Jack and Miko standing nearby, and you leaning up against the railing and watching Ratchet. You look past him and notice that Agent Fowler is awake and that he is walking over to the platform across from you. You turn your attention back to the computers and see that Ratchet has pulled up the planet Cybertron, which is facing a space bridge on one of the monitors and you can see a bunch of purple dots blinking on the screen.
âUhh, Ratchet? What are those blinking purple lights?â You ask, watching as they get closer every second.
âThose are the Cybertronian warriors resurrected by Megatron,â states Ratchet as if it is obvious.Â
âThese things are getting closer. Thatâs bad, right?â Agent Fowler points out.
Ratchet pulls up a schematic of the space bridge and is able to lead Arcee, Bumblebee, and Bulkhead to a switch underneath the space bridge that could shut off the space bridge. Optimus, you found out, was currently locked in an epic duel with Megatron. You listen intently as Ratchet gives instructions to Arcee and you hold your breath as Arcee reverses the current of the space bridge power. You walk over to the railing that faces the ground bridge as Ratchet begins powering it up. The other kids stand next to you, Jack and Agent Fowler on your right and Miko and Raf on your left. You shift nervously from foot to foot, absentmindedly tapping a rhythm on the railing in front of you as you wait for the Autobots to walk through the portal. You wait and you wait and the time seems to stretch on and on for an eternity.Â
âDo youâŚthink theyâreâŚâ Raf starts.
Ratchet looks to his arm where the life forms of the Autobots are monitored and says, âFive life signals. One, very faint.â
Your eyes widen and a picture of Cliffjumpersâ lifeless form flashes through your mind.
No. No no no. Please please donât be him. Donât let it be Cliffjumper. It canât be. It just canât. PLease let him be ok. He has to come back to me.
Then a tall figure comes through the portal, and you are relieved to see that itâs Optimus. You can instantly tell that something is wrong, even though his metal face mask is still up. You make eye contact and stare at him for a moment, silently asking him a question.
Is everyone ok?
Optimus breaks eye contact as a second form appears through the ground bridge, Bulkhead. Miko yells his name and runs down the stairs, rushing over to where the large bot extends a hand which Miko gladly hugs. Raf and Jack run down the stairs to meet their guardians, but you donât move and keep staring at Optimus, but he wonât look back in your direction.Â
Thatâs not good.
A third form appears, black and yellow paint revealing Bumblebee. Rafâs face lights up and he rushes over to Bumblebee who kneels and makes a series of beeping noises to Raf. You wait anxiously, pulling your braided h/c hair over your shoulder and twist it around and around your finger. Just then you can make out an oddly shaped figure in the light of the portal and sharply inhale as Cliffjumper steps out of the portal, carrying Arcee, who is limp in his arms. The scene might have been romantic if it had not been for the dire circumstances. You also see that the leg that Cliffjumper had in a brace is leaking a strange blue liquid, and he is limping. You run down the stairs and rush over to Cliffjumper and Arcee.
âArcee! Cliffjumper, what happened? Are you alright? Is Arcee going to be ok?â
Jack runs over to Arcee and stands next to you, worry etched in his face. You place your hand gently on the side of his shoulder.
âWeâve lost so much in this war, by the All Spark donât let her be another,â Ratchet murmurs to himself.
Jack walks up to Arcee and places his hand in her palm. To your relief Arcee opens her eyes and weakly says âJack, really? There are other motorcycles in the world.â
âBut, youâre my first,â Jack says.
Cliffjumper puts Arcee down and kneels down next to you, but winces as his injured leg bends, his hand instinctively grabbing the injury.Â
âHey y/n,â he says a little hoarsely.
Your throat tightens and you place your small hand on Cliffjumpersâ large one, squeezing and looking up to your guardian.
âYou werenât worried about me were you?â Asks Cliffjumper, raising an eyebrow.
âWell, maybe. A little,â you frown. âWhat happened to your leg? You werenât limping earlier. And whatâs all that blue stuff? Are you going to be ok?â
âWell? What happened? Which Con am I going to have to beat up?â You ask, punching your fist.
Cliffjumper snorts and says, âYeah, Iâm not sure you want to be fighting Megatron.â
âWhat?!â Your eyes widen and your mouth hangs open. âMegatron did that to you?â
âShot me in the leg. Too bad he blew up, I wanna rematch,â Cliffjumper says as he shifts on his leg. He makes a hissing noise and his face grimaces. You look up at him with concern but he waves his hand and says âIâm fine, Iâm fine. Iâve come back from plenty worse.â
You see that the blue liquid coming from Cliffjumperâs leg is flowing faster than it did before and you anxiously look around for Ratchet.Â
âNo, no, youâre hurt pretty bad. You need to see Ratchet,â you say worriedly.
âOh come on, youâre overreacting! I donât need Ratchet!â Cliffjumper insists but you remain unconvinced.
As if on cue, Ratchet turns around and comes over to where you and Cliffjumper are talking. Ratchet assesses Cliff's injury by scanning his leg with a beam of green light that turns red when scanning Cliffjumpersâ leg.
âHm, youâve lost a good amount of energon,â comments Ratchet.
âWhatâs energon?â You ask curiously.
âThe fuel and lifeblood of all Autobots and Decepticons alike,â explains Optimus, startling you because you didnât hear him walk over. âHow are Cliffjumperâs injuries?â
âYeah, will he be ok?â You ask Ratchet worriedly.
âYes, he will be alright,â the medic replies impatiently. âBut he must stay off of his leg, I suggest taking a break from being y/nâs guardian, at least until the wound heals completely.â
âWhat?!â You and Cliffjumper say at the same time.
âFor how long?â You ask grimly.
âAt least a few days,â replies Ratchet.
âAw come on Doc!â Whines Cliffjumper.
âI believe that is for the best, Cliffjumper,â Optimus says.
âBut what about Cliffjumper! Whoâll be my guardian?â You question, afraid of the answer.
âIâm her guardian!â Says Cliffjumper fiercely. âY/n doesnât need any other bot, I feel fine.âÂ
He transforms and does a few donuts around the base, much to the annoyance of Ratchet, before transforming back to his bot form.
âSee? Iâm fine! Donât lock me up in here, Iâll go crazy,â says Cliffjumper determinedly.
âRatchet, what do you think?â Asks Optimus.
Ratchet sighs loudly and pointedly looks at Cliffjumper before saying, âFine! But if his injury gets any worse, I will pull him from being a guardian!âÂ
âVery well,â says Optimus.Â
You notice Miko walk over and she stands next to you, looking up at Optimus and asking, âSo, is this the part where you say goodbye and tell us we need to forget that we saw you?â
Optimus is silent for a moment before he answers. âWithout a means of leaving this world, we Autobots take strength in the bonds we have forged with you four,â and for some reason Optimus looks directly at you. âThough we did not choose to be of Earth, it would seem that we are here to stay,âÂ
You look over at Cliffjumper and he smiles at you. Youâve only known Cliffjumper for a week, but after almost being shot at and killed with him, you feel like youâve known Cliffjumper your whole life. You smile back and look over at Jack, Miko, and Raf, glad to have made such amazing friends, and something Optimus said rings in your head.
We Autobots take strength in the bonds we have forged.
***
You wave as Jack, Miko, and Raf leave the Autobot base to go home. Cliffjumper opens the passenger door and you slide into the seat, closing the door. You reach for the seatbelt but Cliffjumper says âI got it,â and buckles you in safely.
You smile and thank him as he drives through the tunnel and onto the road to take you home.
âBe honest, those donuts hurt a lot didnât they?â You ask with a cocky grin.
âPff I donât know what youâre talking about,â says Cliffjumper.
âOh come on, donât be a hero about it,â you press.
âWell, ok. It hurt a little,â admits Cliffjumper, but you raise your eyebrow.
âOnly a little bit?â You question and he sighs loudly.
âOk fine! Yes, it hurt a lot. Happy?â Retorts Cliffjumper defensively.
âSheesh, so sensitive,â you tease.
âAre you going to keep mocking me? Cause that walk to your house is a long one,âÂ
âAlright, ok, Iâm sorry,â you put your hands up. âYou know, you should have let someone else drive me home. Like Ratchet, or Optimus, or Iâm sure Jack could have dropped me off. You might be hurting your leg even more.â
âLetâs get one thing straight kid, I drive you home. Not Ratchet, not Optimus, me. Besides, Ratchet would probably kill you and Optimus would fill your head with useless quotes about leadership. From henceforth until forever, you will be driven home by yours truly,â states Cliffjumper defensively.
âFrom henceforth until forever? Aww, defensive and loyal. Iâve found quite the guardian,â you grin widely.
âUgh, wipe that stupid grin off your face,â says Cliffjumper, but you can hear him chuckling quietly.Â
âBut donât change the subject! Donât think I havenât forgotten about your injured leg, Cliffjumper,â you exclaim sternly.
âScrap, I hoped youâd forgotten about that,â Cliffjumper mutters.Â
âYeah, nice try. You may be my guardian, but someone has to keep you safe and healthy,â you say.
âAhh, but thatâs Ratchetâs job!â Whines Cliffjumper. âI donât need two people babying me. Ratchetâs bad enough as it is.â
âDo you actually listen to Ratchet?â You ask, already guessing the answer.
âWell, no. Not really,â admits Cliffjumper.
âThatâs what I thought,â you reply. âBesides, how am I supposed to be stuck with you for the long haul if youâve bled to death or you're missing a leg and canât drive anymore?â
âYou sound just like Ratchet,â complains Cliffjumper.
âIs he wrong?â You ask, but he doesnât respond. âHe sounds just as concerned for you as I am.âÂ
âActually, I think youâre worse than Ratchet, which is worrying,â Cliffjumper says seriously, but you know heâs teasing you.
All too soon you see your house through the windshield and Cliffjumper pulls up to the curb thatâs across from your house. You notice that it has the perfect view through your window, and you can see your bedroom lit up by the setting sun. Slowly you reach over to unclip your seatbelt, wishing this time you spend with Cliffjumper could last forever. Once again the image of Cliffjumperâs lifeless body lying somewhere flashes through your head, and you shake your head to get the thought out.
âYou alright?â Cliffjumper asks.
You donât answer right away, instead turning your head to look at the sun set. The sky seems to burst with color, blues, pinks, purples, oranges and yellows fading into each other. The golden rays of the sun filter through Cliffjumpers window and warm your bare skin. It was beautiful, and you took a deep breath before answering Cliffjumper.
âW-what ifâŚit was you, instead of Arcee?â You ask timidly. âWhat if you got hurt? I was able to help you when those Cons tried to kill you when we first met, but I wonât always be able to protect you. I-I-I canâtâŚif you got hurt really badâŚI meanâŚâ
You looked down to where your hands were clasped tightly in your lap.
âHey,â says Cliffjumper firmly but gently. âYou donât need to protect me. Iâm the one that protects you, got it? The Decepticons tried to hurt you, but Iâm not going to let that happen again. I will protect you, and I will protect your home. Understand?â
You nod and look at Cliffjumperâs radio. âItâs your home too,âÂ
âWhat?â He asks.
âThe Decepticons destroyed your home, Cybertron, right? So now this is your home. With us humans, with me,â you say.
âHmm,â Cliffjumper hums in thought. âYou know, when I first came to Earth, I wasnât so sure. I lost a lot during the War for Cybertron; friends, family, my home. But then I met you, and everything changed. Now I have a new friend, and a new home.â
âOh, now youâre getting sentimental. Megatron really dinged you up, huh?â You joke.
âYou started it.â
âOh, real mature Cliffjumper.â
âYou know, I think your parents are probably wondering where you are.â
âNah, Iâm sure theyâre not worried.â
You open the door and step out of the car, walking to the front and placing your hand on Cliffjumpersâ hood, right next to the broken metal bull horn.
âPlease be careful when you drive me to school tomorrow. Donât overdo yourself, if you need to rest your leg please let me know,â you say with concern.
âYes Ratchet, Iâll be careful,â Cliffjumper says.
âMock me all you want, Iâm serious,â you pat his hood affectionately. âPlease promise me that youâll be ok.âÂ
âI promise you that nothing will ever happen to me. Youâre stuck with me for the long haul, remember?â
âGood, because if something does happen to you Iâll never let you hear the end of it!â
Cliffjumper laughs and you can hear the smile in his voice as he says âGood night y/n.â
âGânight. Iâll see you tomorrow,â you respond.
âSleep well,â Cliffjumper says warmly.
âYou too, Cliff,âÂ
You turn around and walk into your house, smiling to yourself as you close the front door behind you.Â
(Transformers Prime) Introducing Them to Shows/Movies
Optimus: He doesnât want to appear rude, but at first his interest in things like that is minimal. He has paused his Prime tasks and deep thought to observe briefly out of curiosity, but itâs not something that he feels inclined to immerse himself in. Heâll listen to you talk about them if itâs something youâre interested in, and certainly give you undivided attention for amounts of time.
The stories heâs most drawn to, if any, are heartwarming tales that focus more on the good of humanity.
Bumblebee: He really likes television. Bring on the movies! He will spend hours binging a show or having a movie marathon, and is fairly open to new things to a point.
He hangs out with Raf a lot, so heâs gotten used to shows and movies aimed at younger audiences right off the bat. Action and car chases are also a plus, if the overall tone of the movie isnât too dark. He really gets into superhero movies that deal with good guys versus bad guys, with the good guys always winning in the end.
Ratchet: He regards such subjects with disdain and acts like these Earth things are beneath him, yet you catch him pausing mid-task with whatever tool or device in his hand as he watches the screen and slowly begins to get sucked in. He will act like he doesnât care the second you notice him watching and continue on his way.
Heâd be drawn to dramas like fictional crime, medical dramas, and even the occasional cheesy, romance flick. He may complain about the main characters, but it only betrays how invested he is in seeing the conflict resolved.
Bulkhead: He approaches TV and shows with an open mind initially and is down to learn more about Earth culture. He quickly finds that he does have preferences. True crime is something Miko watches on occasion, but he canât stomach it. He gets a little queasy and even covers his face, so she doesnât put it on a whole lot when heâs around.
He does, however, really like action movies. Guns and explosions are his thing, and he can really get into a movie with a tough main character.
Arcee: She isnât super into television or movies unless it has a lot of action. Sheâs not into marathons or binges, but she will park herself for a period of time to enjoy a movie or show.
She really enjoys car chase scenes (especially with motorcycles). She digs the special effects and not-so-secretly has a tendency to take maneuvers she saw a bike do on TV and test whether itâs doable in real life.
I was wondering if I could request some Knockout from transformers prime with a human s/o headcanons... Not anything specific, just how he would treat them, etc... Just very general relationship headcanons.
Sure thing! Also thanks for being the first request for Transformers! I'm gonna have this during and after the war around the time he switches sides.
In the beginning, Knockout was very cautious at first.
Naturally he wandered around Earth a lot to take in the different cultures and of course compete in street racing now that he had time and was free from Deception rule. That also meant he could finally have time to understand humans better, even if he thought they were weird sometimes.
But not you though, Knockout thinks you're the only human he might ever love on this planet, maybe even for the rest of his life after Breakdown.
The loss of Breakdown has made Knockout clingy and he'll become anxious if he hasn't seen you in a while. Worried you may never return just like he did...
But you reassure him as always that you'll be fine and you wouldn't leave him just like that.
Knockout always acts flirty or arrogant around everyone, but only you and few others have seen him vulnerable and leaking lubricant from his optics, he trusts you deeply.
Your warmth always comforts him when he goes to lightly hold you, reminding him you're alive and safe when he has another moment of anxiety.
On days when either of you are feeling adventurous, Knockout will take you to a late night race somewhere new each time.
Sometimes you sit on the sides and watch him compete, other times he lets you sit in the passenger seat during the race just to mess with other racers when they see no one is at the wheel as he passes by.
Knockout will definitely kill you with puns, there is no doubt about that. (It's even better if you start making puns with him)
When the Autobots try getting him to go back to Cybertron, Knockout makes it his top priority to get back to Earth once he's allowed to. He refuses to leave the planet or leave behind the one person who made him feel whole again.
Overall, Knockout is just a sweet and flirtatious guy, and he's more than willing to remain on Earth for his human s/o.
