I think part of the reason male trans/trans identified males get SO mad when you misgender them is that their sense of self is external. Like all males growing up, they learn their "identities" are performative and only seem to count if others participate. When refuse to participate in the delusion and "misgender" them, they see it as being denied their very existence.
Masculinity is performative and demands respect at all times, males demand respect from people they don't even know. They see misgendering and disrespect and rejection. Because we reject the delusion they see it as a rejection of their entire self.
