I’m sick of reading otherwise excellent articles like this one and then coming across some fucking awful discussion about females who have identified away from being female. I’m talking about stuff like this:

Women’s colleges are contorting themselves into knots to accommodate female students who consider themselves men, but usually not men who are living as women. Now these institutions, whose core mission is to cultivate female leaders, have student government and dormitory presidents who identify as males.

What’s the issue here? Well, females are females, right? Females have a right to female-only spaces. (And if you are a high-level terf like myself females are womyn and womyn have a right to womyn-only spaces.) This article clearly doesn’t believe that IDing as one sex makes one that sex: So therefor regardless of personal identification a female is female.

What is then the problem of them holding a leadership position at a womyn’s college or being welcome there? Like I don’t care how shitty a womyn’s politics is, she is still a womyn. She still has a place in womyn’s spaces, and in leadership positions (would you disqualify a womyn in makeup from such things? We each have our own unique ways of fracturing under the pressure of patriarchy.).

Either sex matters or it doesn’t: You can’t have it both ways. You say transwomen are men but then in the same breath say transmen, non-binaries and detransitioners are...something else. Non-womyn. A waste of a womyn. Testosterone poisoned. We are no longer womyn: Better to just discard us and use us as a cautionary tale. We still exist. We are still womyn, no matter how we “identify” and we have a place in womyn’s spaces: in feminism.

Womyn’s spaces and feminism are so important to many females reconciling with being womyn. We often end up not thinking of ourselves as womyn due to constant othering from womynhood and not identifying with the role forced on us by patriarchy. These are the females that desperately need radical feminism: a place where being gnc and being human does not disqualify them from being female and a womyn. And yet do you show us open arms? No. We are thrown away. Looked at with disgust. Ushered out of womyn’s spaces. I don’t ask you all to go out of your way: Just avoid this particular way of thinking. If you want to help us avoid hating other womyn because of our identity/blood testosterone levels/transition. Stop acting like we aren’t womyn. I can feel your discomfort with us.
