Lovely coast and walks, beautiful weather. And macaroons. The only downer was one afternoon of really heavy, clothes-soaking rain. And loads of mosquito bites. (Guess who forgot to pack the repellent? But, really, who expects to need that in the land of crepes, cider and subtly-better-than-UK weather?)

Nantes, especially, was AMAZING and a bit crazy (um, missed opportunity: we didn’t stay at the hamster villa) – like one giant endless public-art trail in the summer. Most importantly, mr expo got to celebrate his *50th birthday with a ride on the Grand Éléphant (yes, we’re infantile big kids with cheap simple tastes):

I want to go back to rectify that. Problem: it was quite a short holiday, we were only in Finisterre for 4 nights, and it turned out we were right on the south coast, not that close to Brest. The closest we got was a coastal walk, already quite a long drive from where we were staying, and Brest was at least an hour further... And, being British and inefficient, we were exhausted super-slack and didn’t get up/out very early most days...

In compensation, we saw some art so outrageously slashy and homoerotic that at some point I’ll post my terrible photos. And drove through a place where the name alone is exquisitely/LoL RTOI (ditto).
