He was clearly a vampire, and one well-versed in magics of all sorts. Alucard was not loathe to accept that the man was correct, especially in this situation. His pride did not override his good sense and, he found, it was easiest to get along with people when they were unaware of his own lineage.
âMy greatest reason is that you have not turned your ire upon me,â responded the dhampir with an almost casual flick of the razor thin blade of his favorite sword, Crissaegrim. It was half again as long as any one-handed blade should be, but was too thin to be called bastard. It seemed to float in his hand, an extension of a very skilled arm and with it, he carved and cleaved with little effort.
All the same, the number of beasts and demons did not seem to be decreasing. The moon was high overhead, the stars darkened by its presence, and the creatures of the night howled madly in the silvery light of it.
