#justdrive - R.I.’s new Hands Free Law to take effect June 1

   Members of the General Assembly, RIDOT & AAA Executives, RIIL Executive and Assistant Directors and student athletes joined members of the State and Local police at a press conference to announce and promote the new Hands Free Law going into effect in Rhode Island on June 1st.Â
   The law - referred to as a "common sense" law - was finally passed after years of hard work.Â
   Frightening facts: 1 in 4 accidents involve texting and driving, over 50% of accidents in the United States involve a cell phone AND 21% of accidents involving 16-19 year olds involves a cell phone!Â
   Today drivers across the state were asked to #justdrive and focus on the road. Remember: Traffic Safety is a Team Sport!Â
