Pillow Talk, 526 S Lake Ave., Pasadena, CA 91101, Score: 40/50
Pillow Talk has taken over the Cauldron Ice Cream spot. It has the same owner as the wildly popular boba shop next door, Tpumps. Currently in soft opening mode, they offer coffee drinks, Japanese sandwiches, pastries, and fancy housemade desserts. It’s camping friendly.
Score: 40/50
Food: 4/5 – The pastries looked good (croissants, muffins, scones). The Japanese sandwiches are made to order. There are four kinds: Tamagoyaki, Egg heaven, Spam Egg Cucumber, and Guaca-Mango. Sandwiches are served from 11 AM – 3 PM. The tamagoyaki sandwich (egg omelette made with dashi, mustard, mayo on thin white bread, $8) was hot and tasty. The fluffy, light egg omelette was tender and slightly sweet. The desserts look good too. If you’re hungry, one sandwich won’t be enough.
Coffee: 3/5 – They use Counter Culture Coffee. The cappuccino had foam art but was quite bitter. They have espresso drinks, signature lattes, pour over coffee, and lemonade.
Wi-fi: 5/5 – Free, unlimited, secure, 5G. Fast!
Ambiance: 4/5 – Sparse and modern, white walls, white tile, grey concrete floor, white tables, black chairs, succulents. The walls are unadorned right now. It looks similar to the way it did when Cauldron was the tenant.
Noise: 5/5 – Very quiet during the day, no music, everyone seems to take their order to go. They turned the music on later, the usual pop you’d expect to hear at a boba shop.
Plugs: 5/5 – Outlets at each table
Parking: 4/5 – Park at one of the public parking lots (90 minutes free) or inside the parking lot up the street at Lake
Comfort: 4/5 – Small tables, flimsy plastic chairs, the tables aren’t too close together. Tables are small
Bathroom: 3/5 – One gender neutral, I did not visit
Art: 3/5 – None but maybe they’ll add some later
Tips: No one else was camping there. It’s a small place that doesn’t have that much seating. Help yourself to water.

Pump it up at TPumps! Who else loves their drinks? My favorite combo is a rose hazelnut milk tea with the classic boba. My boyfriend loved this mix and got me hooked when I tried it for the first time. So much better than my mango rose!

I finally endured the lines at #Tpumps and got the best #boba of my life. #newfavorite #rosevanilla

#Tpumps has the most adorable holiday lid covers. Their Halloween ones were cute and they even have Thanksgiving ones. I respect them for not skipping over Thanksgiving and jumping into Christmas. Lol.
