Work has started to install the world’s longest and tallest slide around the Orbit tower in the Olympic park. A team of specialist abseilers lifted the first pieces into place on Friday. Initial attempts on Thursday were abandoned because of bad weather. The Slide, billed as “London’s most spectacular and thrilling new attraction”, is due to open in early summer and tickets will go on sale in the next few weeks.
