New Trees

Over twenty trees were planted in the park yesterday.  The attached image is an older version of the planting plan, but of the ones that went in, they should match up here mostly.  We’ll try to get the actual map for those interested in tree id.  There are some fun, not to common species there.

First tree on the street removed today for this year.  Last year the tally was 13.

  Such heartbreak seeing these community assets removed for such banal thinking.  Awful too that there are people out there calling themselves arborists who are willing to break the law for a few bucks.

I don't understand people. A few doors down from me, to the west, a tree is being cut down. Don't people realize that these are community assets which have so much more importance and benefits than a little bit of aesthetic appeal to your neighbors?

Toronto's tree protection policy plan review staff are unable to do anything about it, the bylaws are there but people just ignore them and there is next to no enforcement. The cycle continues, fewer and fewer trees every year.
