I admit, I've never actually liked Akane as a character. It could be because several bugs have gotten me apprehended by her specifically, or it could be that I disliked how any "evil" habits of her were not shown in the game.
On to the more important information, though. I feel like Akane's "sadistic" or "cruel" personality adds valuable information. Not just to herself and her past, but also to her relationship with Megami. If Akane is "evil", wouldn't Megami know this? And if so, does that mean that she's allowing someone with cruel intentions to be one of her trusted "allies" in the school?
I suppose Megami could be ONLY using Akane's manipulative skills and maybe paying her in some way to do more good than damage, regardless of how she's feeling. But then that begs the question, why IS Akane evil in the first place?
I won't say that it's "because" of her admirers, but specifically her PAST admirers, as well as her family. Akane was often dragged to special events and to strange people just to be looked at and admired. An ornament to be hung up and stared at by all sorts of people. Eventually, she earned an internal loathing for anyone who admires her for her beauty alone.
Thanks to this "special treatment", her sisters despised her. And her brother, even knowing what she was going through, didn't take her with him when he cut ties. She wasn't even sure if he could.
And I'll add, despite Akane "hating" people who admire her for her beauty, she also expects it. If anything, part of her looks forward to it and rushes to that as a first excuse as to why someone may be acting strange around her. She might look forward to hating people, which eventually just puts her in an endless loop of acting likable just to hate those who like her. By no means does she have a desire to escape this loop. Maybe she's given up on escaping a long time ago?
(I won't act like I'm a psychology expert just because I study some, but I will say that I plan on looking for some sort of mental disorder that may explain this behavior in Akane. I don't like adding random disorders to characters in the story because I know how stressful and horrible all sorts of disorders can be. So if I do add any, I want to make sure I get it all as right as possible.)
