Great news! Together with Torasko (torasko.com) I've started on a Pokémon Text Adventure! We've already got the entire Introduction pieced together :D
I had the idea of building a Pokémon Text Adventure for about a week. This project will definitely help me acquire necessary programming skills for building, it's small (text adventure) and fun! When I told my friend about it he immediately wanted to join in the project and we started right that evening. I'm so excited for this project. It will be my first real programming project and a collaboration at the same time!
We're going to Rebuild the first part of Pokémon Red, the Generation I Pokémon game. To make sure that this is a project which I would finish I'm applying a scope for the game. The three most important things to implement in this text adventure are Maps, People and Pokémon.

So the Introduction has been pieced together now! OAK welcomes you to the world of Pokémon and asks you your name and the name of his grandson, your rival.
After this the gameloop should kick in. A gameloop we still have to code. I don't think we'll release an Alpha version but probably a Beta (the three important things implemented) version will show up on this blog in a few weeks.
Now I'm sure you're like "but how the hell are you going to text adventure this part of the game?". Find out when I release the Beta or keep checking my blog for new posts. There will be posts about how torasko and I work together, what the mechanics are of the First Generation Pokémon game and how we implemented that stuff.
