If you’re even the tiniest bit interested in history, take a look into my boy Shosty’s life. It was rough. And there are so many different theories on him--was he a sympathizer, wasn’t he--but I really feel like all you have to do is listen to his music. This quartet is one of the most autobiographical pieces ever. You hear so much emotion and story-telling throughout the movements, from sadness, to dazzling sarcasm, to terror, to quiet resolution. It’s brilliant.
