Things That Happen at Day/Things That Happen at Night by milo
Good Music Monday
An Appetizer
The Plug
The first time you listen to milo, you’ll probably be a little confused. Is this spoken word or not? (If you weren't currently looking at him:) Is he black or white or neither? Are his thoughts heavy or silly? But certainly, the longer you listen and the more you catch his wide-spread references and his singular method for making statements, you’ll come to appreciate this insistingly idiosyncratic intellectual.
"Things That Happen at Day" and "Things That Happen at Night" are two of milo's first EP's and preceded the realease of his first album, "A Toothpaste Suburb." Give them a listen on Spotify.
Thanks, Tyler.
Week 66: Milo
Milo: A Toothpaste Suburb I've heard some people say that Milo is the rapper to follow in 2014. I don't know if that's true, but I will say he's really talented. What I like about him is that he's honest — similar to Oddisee, who I wrote about earlier today. But beyond that, he's also incredibly smart. Part of the fun in listening to this is trying to identify all the different pop culture and literature and cultural references. Milo is new to the scene, but he's gifted in many ways that his peers aren't — and I suspect he's going to get more popular in coming years. iTunes/Amazon/Rdio
Milo - Salladhor Saan
Wisconsin Native Milo's newest LP, a toothpaste suburb, dropped with hard hitting-bass, better flow than last time, and melancholy lyrics addressing everything from Milo's usual philosophical quandary to the death of his brother.
Milo - In Gaol (ft. KOOL AD)
(from album, a toothpaste suburb)
I'm honestly a big fan of this guy, mainly cause of his nerdy demeanor, and he knows that's what he's good at. That being said, he still has an amazing flow and chuckle worthy at points. Also gotta appreciate the beat in the song, since it is well produced.
