Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is an intense red wine that stands up to the flavorful cuisine of Abruzzo. Made from the grape variety of the same name, it is a low tannin wine often with an unmistakeable waft of sea air. Cataldi Madonna, founded in the 1920's at the time when everyone in the region was selling in bulk, was one of the first producers in Abruzzo to bottle their wine. Brilliant ruby red, rich, with dark fruit and balanced oak notes. Warm, medium in body, with elegant tannins and pleasant acidity that gives this wine a fresh character. Aged for 12 months in 225 l French oak, followed by 18 months in bottle. #abruzzo #montepulcianodabruzzo #toni2012 #edmondjulybox #winelovers & #foodies
