My Conflicted Feelings on Phillipa Georgiou
Michelle Yeoh is a great actor and martial arts queen. Discovery has been an improvement in action over the previous series, yet it is also disappointing that Captain Georgiou died by combat without getting to display much of that talent. It feels maligned, like Patrick Stewart not given the room grand stand, Shakespeare-style. That’s more a matter of preference though.
What makes Captain Georgiou one of my least favorite Captains is her signing off on a plan to plant mines on dead Klingons. There are questionable decisions that each Captain has made, particularly in early seasons, but this goes against the Geneva Convention - “Each party to the conflict must take all possible measures to prevent the dead from being despoiled. Mutilation of dead bodies is prohibited.”
However, all that said, she is not the only Georgiou, and I see the seeds of a redemption arc in mind for her Mirror counterpart. At the very least, there is a non-zero chance that she gets to utterly demolish some folk.

🌿🌻 A self portrait I have done for college, the project that is aptly named ‘All About Me’. My face has been done in tone with a regular Foray HB pencil, outlined with a BIC Ballpoint Pen and I mixed together two shades of yellow acrylic to block in my hair. I was largely inspired by one of my favourite artists Tomasz Mro and his ‘Yellow Series’ as yellow is one of my favourite colours. This is one of the first self portraits I have ever done and I am quite happy with the way it has turned out however I still have a lot to learn 🌻🌿

The mere minutes of F8 were spectacular. It’s wild to go from alien to threatening to tragic in a single scene. Alex Diehl also built on Brent Spiner’s iconic performance. I hope his role grows, like Colm Meany becoming Chief O’Brien.
