Entry No. 7 - 17th August 2014 - Last Day In London
Okay, listen up guys, its story time! albeit a boring story but its the story of the beginning of my UWC story.
About four years ago we had a girl living with my family as she was a student at the university near my house. She had just graduated from Pearsons college in Canada and told me loads about it. I started dreaming of going to this place myself and always dreamt of going to Pearsons. Then when it finally came to the year that I could apply I started to do some more research into the other colleges and I was so overwhelmed with this dream of going there.
The application process was really long. I started writing my application in September and finished in 2 days before the deadline (I was so proud). Then I had to wait until the 11th of December (roughly a month after submitting the application) to find out if i got an interview. I did. (obviously lol)
My interview day was the day after my birthday, so on my birthday my dad, mum and i all drove down to Wales to Atlantic College. We had a birthday meal in a motorway service station and stayed the night in a b&b near AC. I remember driving to AC the next day and looking over what i had written for my application. I was so nervous. We spent most of the day playing games and doing loads of funny activities. however it wasn't all fun and games of course. The day included 3 mini interviews, a presentation that you had to do, a group debate as well as constantly being watched by your facilitators who were always making notes on you. I noticed one of my facilitators notes about me when we were having a conversation and there were so many random little notes all on the same page, that made me confident because it meant that there was a lot to say about me. The last interview that I felt really crap coming out of, I really fucked up in that one.
I waited about a month and then i remember being in my room and listen to Mika (I was feeling reminiscent) and my parents walking in holding this envelop. I asked them if it was "the" envelope and they didnt even reply just looked at me as if I knew the answer. I did. It had to be "the" envelope. The first sentence read " I hope that this letter brings you some good news. we would like to offer you a place at UWC Red Cross Nordic" I could not believe it. I did it. My dream came true.
So that brings us to today. Today is my last day in the UK. I'm leaving tomorrow. wut? The reality still hasn't struck me yet. I don't feel anything. I did feel excited and then nervous and then excited again during the build up to this point but right now I'm so focused to making sure everything is done and packed before I go i guess I haven't had time to feel anything yet. Tomorrow I'm sure all the emotions will overwhelm me.
I'm looking forward to touching down in Norway.
