Ardor is death gliding in the sky ready to demolish mankind. Four teenagers stand out and tell their story. Starting with Andy. Andy is a junkie who hangs with the wrong crowd. Andy’s best friend drags him down with the traumatic past of their pact to kill them selves together. Andy backed down but his buddy Bobo slit his wrists anyway. Of course Bobo lived. Andy struggles with Bobo always talking shit and pushing him about being a virgin especially with the world ending in two months. So Andy being a boy and being a follower to Bobo makes it his life to get laid by a girl you’ll read about in a minute. But who I’ll talk about next is Anita. Anita is the straight As, does volunteer work, goes the extra mile girl school. Everyone adores her. She, however, does not have the easy life. She has this dream to sing, and she’s amazing at it. Her father sees her in a different direction. Her father wants her to go to college and blah blah blah. But does that matter anymore now that the world is ending? Not to Anita. She packs a bag and basically says “Fuck it” and walks off to the only person who she knows can help her with her singing career on a short notice. The guy who saw her and said “Whatever it is, it’s not worth it.” Andy. She stays with him and grows deep feelings for him but he never can see her when his head is in another girl’s ass trying to succeed his quest. The one thing they can agree on, however, is a big party the night before the end of life. The End of the World Party. Anyone can come, live music from Andy and Anita. Where everyone can live one last time. Anita can’t help but fall for this guy for doing the things he does. She can’t help but feel anger for the girl he wants. Eliza. The mistreated. She got slut shamed and after that the bickering started. One mistake over her shoulder made her think it’s okay to sleep around now. So she did. But she didn’t let it take away all of her. She still has that side where she loves to take pictures. Where she started a blog that became huge and helped more people to come to The End of the World party. She also fell in love. With the guy that started the slut shaming. Well his girlfriend at the time. He knew though that Eliza was the one. Peter is that last character. The basketball star. Always smiling. Has a great heart. He and Eliza only kissed. But he let everyone tear down Eliza and it tore him down. All it took was Death to make him realize how much time he waisted on not loving the right girl. Peter never got to make it to The End of The World party. Andy’s friends Bobo and Golden messed with his sister. They all got out of the mess but only Peter was the one that lied in Eliza’s lap knowing he wished he could have more time. Knowing that he’s leaving Eliza to die alone. But here’s the thing. You don’t know what happens in the end. The book never tells you. It ends with the party and how Eliza, Anita, and Andy (along with other characters) looked up and watched Ardor. What I think happens? It didn’t kill them. It didn’t explode the earth. It landed elsewhere and everyone, whether they were from there or drove out of state, at the party lived. And that’s why, they built the party so they could live and guess what? I believe that’s what happened.
