L' Amour: Chapter Three
Three months passed and my exhaustion was much worse. I woke up early in the morning and slept late night. It was like this storm was always above my head. No matter how good I was faking how energetic I was, Tom saw right through the mask. We've learned quite a bit about each other, but not everything.
"Anna, what's wrong?" He asked and I didn't bother putting up the facade.
"I'm just tired."
"No, there's something else. Spill it."
"Spill what? This drink?" I joked and he frowned.
"No, talk to me about what's been making you so not you."
"I just don't want to, okay?" I said rather harshly and he looked a bit hurt.
"I'm sorry, I haven't had any coffee yet." I apologized. He nodded and the rest of the time was so awkward. We didn't even turn on the music.
The next two weeks were devastating. Tom just completely ignored me. I hated the silence as I did his make up and hair. He would leave when I'm done without his usual wave. Some of the cast started pulling me out to talk about why Tom and I weren't talking. I just said I didn't want to talk about it and moved on with my day.
I couldn't handle the migraines I've been getting because of all the stress and lack of sleep. My close friends and family called me and constantly reminded me to put my health before work, but I didn't like letting people down.
I took a pill before I went to sleep. Another thing that was making me not want to sleep was the constant nightmares of the incident in Detroit hotel. I thought my life was over then, but I moved on. Barely.
My routine was as per usual today except the fact that I had a horrible feeling in my stomach. The weak side of me almost reached for the phone to call in sick, but the stronger side told me to walk it off. We've been traveling and moving locations to film. All those times in the hotel I never ever slept. Not even once.
I got to the trailer early and was so grateful that we were going to film in L.A. for a few weeks. My stomach stirred and my eyes widened. I rushed into the bathroom of the trailer and my breakfast was flushed away by the toilet. I washed my mouth and brushed my teeth, but the black dots clouded my vision. Before I could hold onto something for support, everything went black.
"Anna? Anna!" I heard someone yell through my ears and in my mind I begged them to stop. It rang through my ears like nails on a chalk board. I vision was blurry, but I managed to open my eyes fully and see clearly. Tom was in front of me with a frightened expression and there was a nurse right beside him.
"Are you okay?" I felt like that was the first time he spoke to me in years.
"I'm fine. Just a bit woozy."
"Have you been drinking?" The nurse asked.
"No, I don't drink nor smoke."
"Have you been having headaches or stomach aches?" I nodded hesitantly.
"You might want to get a bit of extra sleep and don't stress yourself too much, honey. Here, take this." She gave me the pills and water bottle before leaving. The whole time I took the pill and drank the water, I felt a pair of eyes watching me.
"Do you mind?" I tried to joke around, but his expression was dead serious it scared me.
"You scared me to death. I stayed by your side and called the medic from here just in case it got worse."
"What got worse?" I questioned.
"You were screaming and kicking and punching. It was scary."
"Does anybody else know about this?"
"The whole cast does. They came in to check on you, but the nurse, Susan, shooed them away. Saying it'll stress you out even more."
"Thanks, Tom." I hugged him and I knew he didn't expect it. We haven't hugged in two weeks which felt like years.
"You're welcome...love." I felt my stomach clench at the word he just addressed you. It was this weird, but amazing feeling.
"Let's get to your hair and makeup."
"No, no. Joss insisted that you go home and so do I."
"No, I have work."
"You have to rest."
"You're a munch." I insulted him and he tried to bite back a smile and looked so cute doing it. I seriously think I am high right now.
"You need to get some sleep, love."
"How about I do your make up first and then I go home. Not because you or Joss said so. because I want to." He smirked knowing I was lying, but sat down in the chair anyways. I felt so much better when he turned on the stereo and we talked about the weirdest things.
"Thanks, love. Oh and before you leave, can you please answer my question?"
"Yes. I just did." He pouted and I smiled.
"Why have you been so tired lately?"
"Fine. I've been up late working on my Fall clothing line and I just want it to be decent." I lied and he thankfully fell for it.
"Anna. You are the best designer I know. The best designer this whole movie production team and cast know. You don't have to spread yourself too thin."
"Yeah, I know. My OCD hates me."
"Now, go home and get some rest. I'll see you when you feel better." He hugged and kissed my forehead before heading off on set. I stood their for what felt like hours, but was probably 30 seconds. My heart was still racing, my forehead still burning, and my stomach still doing somersaults. Oh gosh, I really need some rest.
