you know how people do those « imagine your OTP » prompts well i am cringe, lonely, a bimbo abd stupid so here:

tattoos/ markings. tomilan not even realizing she has markings until someone mentions it, so amera traces out all the lines with delicate fingers, thumbs brushing over her temple and across her cheekbones, running her hands over the lines down her sides, the lines she’s had memorized as long as she can remember.

tomilan knows how to speak mandolorian, thanks to her mandolorian mother (her name is panagiota she’s kiffar ill expand on her.. eventually)

anyways her moms always called each other mesh’la (beautiful) cause… yeah.

so OBVIOUSLY she calls amera mesh’la (this is set while amera is still with andromache) and she’s in shambles everytime (whether it’s on purpose or not) and tom is blushing and stuttering and amera notices but she doesn’t know what it means

(amera does know small amounts of mando’a from her time spent with tom, and is eventually fluent after making an effort to learn it (around two years into the war as she and star get closer))

ANYWAYS she asks Vormur what it means and he’s like… who’s been calling you beautiful? and this is pre-kiss so she just. amera.lesbian.exe has stopped responding.

POST kiss- (and also post tom’s moms leaving-) amera calls tomilan mesh’la and tomilan just stops. and ofc amera is like shit because she doesn’t actually know what it means? was vormur making fun of her?

but tomilan hasn’t heard anyone speaking in mando’a in so long. and so she’s just like. say it again?

and amera does.

amera and tomilan aren’t looking for affection, someone to love. in fact, they are actively Not looking for a romantic connection for various reasons.

now. we’ve established that they have a very strong bond. when i was originally writing them (way. way way back think 2020 back) i wanted them to fill a very specific niche, which was “lovers in no way fated or soulmates, who actively fight fate and end up together”

but now i am writing them. and i am coming to the realization that arguably the best way to do that is to just have best friends who love each other very much, who, over and over again, choose to be in a romantic relationship for no other reason than that it makes them happy.

probably the best example/ inspiration for this is chidi and elanor. yes, they have a truly amazing romantic relationship, but for significant parts of it they aren’t together. chidi has a girlfriend for a while. and- this is never really framed as any sort of impediment to their relationship. sure it’s a slow burn, but it’s not a them Overcoming Obstacles slow burn, it’s just a them happening to get to a point where yeah, they have romantic feelings for each other.

but the romance is never the key to their relationship! this post said it best:

anyways. i think a more apt way of putting how i wanted their original dynamic to be is

they will always be best friends. they will always choose each other. they love each other and they help each other. thats enough! thats more than enough! they’re soulmates. but they’re also gay and they’re going to fight fate circumstance and god and kiss each other cause they can.

There is no peace for the Jedi, no crops for them to reap, sown in their blood but not tears, never tears. The holocron buzzes a slight current where it rests on the table.

“The war is over,” murmurs Tomilan like reverence, like confession, and Amera lets herself believe it, if only for a night.
