Made a big batch of tomato sauce for our pizza party tonight. Here's my basic recipe (although this batch is sans garlic). Tomato Sauce 3 Tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil 1 cup white onions (about one large), finely chopped heat oil and onions together over low heat, gently cook until softened, about 10+ minutes, sprinkle with pinch of sea salt 6 garlic cloves, finely sliced add to onions, stir until fragrant, about 1 minute, then add 6 Tablespoons Italian tomato paste (in a tube; keeps better) stir, mix, and simmer for a few minutes until a bit darker, then add 3 bottles of Italian Passata (deseeded tomatoes; ingredients should only read "tomatoes", no salt/citric acid added) another pinch of sea salt Let simmer over low heat with lid off, stirring occasionally, for about 45 minutes Add handful of basil leaves, cut in chiffonades If serving the sauce as is, top with some extra-virgin olive oil . . . . #recipe #foodcloseup #inmykitchen #pizzaparty #tomatosauce #tomatsaus #easycooking #oppskrift #recette #hobbychef #saucetomate #vanfoodie #eeeats #eattheworld #cookathome #mainlyfood
