Zaveid being upset that we kill if needed is legitimate because he is coming from a place of the ones being victimized. Demons and malak are sub-human according to the abbey. Zaveid's distaste for killing and his determination to not do it is respectable BECAUSE of his background
On the other hand, eleanor and the other exorcists preaching non-violence to the very people their organization perpetuates violence against just. Has no impact.
It's kind of cool how the game even frames it that way. Zaveid's pacifism is shown as a respectable, informed choice and an indicator of him being a good person while eleanor's ideals is actually pretty explicitly framed as coming from a place of ignorance.
The more rokurou opens up about his past, the more hilarious his claim that he has no idea how he became a demon is. Like....
"Hahaha I had like 20 siblings but only one is alive now. I was treated like a spare for my surviving brother who is a grade A asshole that used to beat me up daily. From a young age, I had to work for this horrible family with no scruples. My worth was measured by my success in battle from the time I was a child. My family drilled a samurai's credo into my head. Not a single clue how I became a war demon though, must have just happened"
YEAH??????? A REAL MYSTERY
Velvet taking responsibility for the consequences of her own actions and moving forward makes me love her as a character. Her acknowledgement that, even if she never did anything, there are people who hate her simply for living and refusing to let that stop her makes her strong. I love how she acknowledges that her actions will hurt some people even if they help others.
But velvet constantly accepting the blame for things that either have literally nothing to do with her or is her fault only if you bend over backwards to see it that way is.... heartbreaking. The way she accepts blame for things that anyone with self-esteem would argue against says a lot about her view of herself. She's a monster so why not? Why shouldn't it be all be her fault? Why shouldn't she shoulder the blame for malevolence generated by other people? Lord of calamity? Sounds about right to her. Ofc she's the one ruining the world, doesn't matter that she wasn't even around for when it all went to shit. She'll accept it all being her fault because, in her eyes, she's disgusting and horrid anyways. If blame needs to be laid, it hardly matters if it's at her feet. It's her own way of punishing herself. But she fails to see how that makes her friends feel, how it hurts them too. Dare I say it, they worry (in their own ways) and would rather not see her dead
The point in berseria that I'm at is hilarious because all the skits are just eleanor pointing out all the horrible things we do and saying that she would NEVER do that and she's probably got a point but everyone ignores her because
she doesnt see the rest of the group as people with rights so nothing we do will please her anyways
She's definitely trying to betray us and
She still works for the evil pope ffs. She has done equally bad things, she just doesn't see it. We don't trust her judgement (at least velvet doesnt, idk if the others are even listening at all)
And then laphicet or velvet will say like one nice thing and she immediately has a small existential crisis

Starting to suspect eleanor is a big ol gay for velvet which is something I can actually agree with her on because.... same
I really need velvet to quit saying that what happened in aball was completely her fault. First of all, she didn't turn them into demons. She didn't even know they were turned into demons! There was no way to tell who was attacking, and velvet didn't know at the time about the true nature of demons either. Even if she had known, it might not have changed anything. There's no turning back and the villagers weren't exactly sane; a fight was probably inevitable
Honestly, fuck artorious. Ok, it was by velvet's hand that they died so some guilt is appropriate... but whichever way you spin it, it's still mostly on artorious. He opened that gate and caused all that, that's not on velvet! But ofc he's going to turn it around to make her feel responsible, to make her vulnerable. He turned the villagers into demons, backed velvet into a corner, and then used her reaction against her. He's preying on her misdirected guilt just like he did medissa! Don't let him, velvet!
me putting earmuffs on laphicet and eleanor whenever we visit hellawes: be warm, children
