Oh for the love of a toaster!
[Lily enthusiastically telling me about some new spells she's learning while walking from the Library.]
Lily: I've almost got it down! With a little more practice I'll have it aced!
Me: I'm not surprised. You're a natural when it comes to Charms work.
Lily: Please. I was just lucky to be chosen by a wand that just so happens to perform Charms quite well.
Me: If you say so.
???: Lily!
[Pause to see a thin blonde first year running towards us. Realizes who it is and would love nothing more than to disappear through the floor.]
Lily: Oh hi Charity.Â
Me: [Groan]
Charity: Lily I was wondering if you could tell me about that muggle device used to make toast now!
Lily: You mean a toaster. [chuckles] Umm sure.Â
Me: I'm going to go.
Charity: Wait. You don't have to go. You can stay and talk with us.
Me: But I--
Lily: Oh but of course! We can explain it together.Â
Me: ....
Charity: Yeah! I think muggles are so interesting! I mean look at the kind of disadvantages they are at without magic and yet they thrive! They are so imaginative and creative!
Lily: [Giggles]
Me: I have...things to do. [Slowly walks away] You two enjoy your talk. Sorry I can't stay. [Leaves.]
I swear! That Hufflepuff girl is obsessed with toasters! TOASTERS! Lily. I swear. Leave it to her to try and drag me into something she knows I want nothing to do with. Mischievous little witch.Â
