I know this isn't completely studyblr related, but I thought that maybe some of you would think it was cool :) This is a picture of one of the cell lines I'm growing. These are TN5 cells, which are derived from the ovary of an insect called a cabbage looper. You can tell I'm talking good care of them because they have tails! (Look really closely at the ones near the center.) TN5 cells are really useful for biotech work. We infect these cells in the lab with recombinant baculoviruses, which act as vectors for gene transfer. These cells have really high levels of gene/protein expression, which is why we like using them! ((ps they're only green because that's the color light we use in the microscope!!)) I'm always so excited to talk about my lab! -Grace
