Hi!! I want to start off by saying that I absolutely love your writing. You are an immaculate storyteller. Your story Take Me to Your River is on par with published books I have read. You have made me fall in love with your versions of Megumi and Yuji. Thank you for your time and skill into creating your masterpiece.
My question for you can be interpreted multilayered. Please answer as little or as much as youād like! What is your brainstorming process when writing about a characterās emotional state and emotion-driven decisions? For example, Megumi has been making tough and consequential decisions in his effort to protect Yuji and Tsumiki because he loves both of them so much. Are you basing his decisions out of what you would do in that situation or something else? Or a combination of things? I adore your Megumi so much, and I know heās trying his best with so much shit coming at him left and right.
Also side note: Is it crazy that I want Megumi to go through with the wedding ceremony?? I just want a gut punching scene where Megumi is standing at the altar and glances to the guests to see Yuji near the back and they stare at one another with such longing. My heart wouldnāt be able to take such pain, but I crave the drama!
Thank you oml that's so nice of you šš I go back and reread for editing and I'm like "oml I'm such a chud at writing is that ANOTHER misspelling" š so thanks haha
Slight manga spoilers ahead!
Oh, very fun question! This is my favorite part of writing and storytelling!! Figuring out how someone would react in a situation depending on who they are and what motivates them.
I try to base my character work on canon as much as possible. Thankfully there's a lot to work with when it comes to Megumi so tbh he's easy for me to write. Yuji, on the other hand, is SO hard for me to write haha. Like you're telling me he FORGIVES Sukuna at the end and would literally give his life away for a chance to help Sukuna become better? BOY! WHAT GOES ON IN YOUR HEAD! AFTER WHAT THAT MF DID TO MY BABY GOJO!!
Anyway haha Megumi. At least, the way I read him.
We have 1) Megumi being willing to do basically anything for someone he loves because he puts them on this pedestal of Good that he believes to be rare and worth sacrificing for and 2) Megumi fundamentally viewing himself as Not A Person. He's a tool in his own mind, a tool to be used in the defense of others, especially those he deems to be Good (many of which are people he loves).
That fundamental belief is totally rattled when he meets Yuji and finds himself wanting for himself. He tries to convince himself it's actually just because Yuji is the perfect Good Person idea he has because otherwise it would be selfish and he doesn't have the room for that as a Tool.
This leads me to write him being willing to accept any consequences that come down on him and being completely unwilling to accept consequences coming down on anyone else in his life. And, obviously, because everyone has always told him that he's supposed to be powerful and capable and Gojo-level one day, everything that has ever happened is his fault.
Fushiguro Megumi, thinking about you makes me so fucking sad, second only to me thinking too hard about Gojo Satoru šš
I guess I try to base him off of that thought process. I don't really know how to put it more into words. I will say, I try my best NOT to write "what I would do in this situation." Sometimes I'll even think about it and then purposefully divert away from it while keeping the characters in mind, otherwise I feel like my writing voice will start to all sound the same.
Hope this answers your question somewhat! I didn't want to completely splurge and write an essay on accident so š
Side note answer: lmao okay I see you like pain and suffering. Have I got some juicy chapters coming up for you ššš«µ

Hi I adored the angst in the recent chapter of āTake Me To Your Riverā the way your wrote the dynamic of Nanako and Megumi vs Megumi and Tsumiki was chefs kiss. Wanted to ask does Nanako care or at least liked Yuuji and hated the way Megumi broke up with him or is at least bitter he didnāt tell her and she had to find from and outside source? Also I LOVED that Yuuji was mad a Megumi for telling him he missed him even though from his perspective he was a side piece and they he told him to stop texting him like wow didnāt expect that like it broke my heart for the angst but it was awesome to see Yuuji make boundaries. Was completely surprised that Satoru got sealed in a random mission considering it was a big event in shibuya so Iām excited to see how it plays out but I gotta ask howās Suguru taking it cus he seemed to be hiding a lot? Thank you for writing this work and I canāt wait for the next chapter šš
I'd imagine Nanako hears everything from Mimiko who heard about it this time from Tsumiki. Nanako is definitely bitter about being left out of the loop, but I don't think she cares much about Yuji. They only briefly met once and she doesn't exactly know him. I guess she would care about him for the fact that he makes Megumi happy because Nanako loves Megumi at the end of the day like any sibling.
Yeah Megumi is down bad and it makes him dumb as hell which is lowkey the basis of the entire fic ššš
Oh, trust me, we'll see just how well Suguru is taking Satoru's vacation next chapter š He for sure for sure is a character who keeps all his emotions hidden inside, though. It's because he's one of the strongest! Everyone else is far too weak and breakable to possibly understand besides Satoru, right? š Lol
Thank you for the kind words!! I'm glad you're enjoying the angst lol even though the fic lowkey catfished as a fluff fic in the first half haha. See you next week!
HI⦠i rly rly like ur jjk fic take me to your river⦠it fills me with so much joy u write so well and i anticipate new chapter uploads all week thank u for writing. š„¹š„¹š„¹
i was wondering⦠how do u plan out ur fics⦠cuz i wanna get into writing more but ive never rly been able to get past 2,000 words or one chapter. do u have any tipsā¦
lovelovelove ur work ok thank u
Thank you!!! Aww you're so sweet, I'm glad you're enjoying (: I'm having a lot of fun writing it, although I'm on like chapter 20 now and it is not fun and whimsy anymore and I did in fact make myself cry while writing another chapter lol -,_-,
Anyway, to be completely honest, I have about 12 drafts of other jjk fics that never made it past 2k either. Unfortunately there's not an art to keeping motivation for a fic, however if you're just looking to make your word count higher, I have two pieces of advice that do not always apply but have helped me in the past!
1. For dialogue, pretend that your characters cannot, under any circumstances, directly say what they want to say. For example, if a character just wants to say, "I love you but I can't tell you that because I'm afraid of becoming dependent on you and being unable to handle it when you inevitably leave me," you can't let them. You have to force them to talk around it, for whatever reason. Sometimes I use this when the dialogue I'm writing feels uninteresting or flat.
2. For description, remember all five of the senses!! This is such a big one. They can help set the tone really well and pull your reader into your scenes. My favorites to include are smell and texture. Although I am definitely guilty of doing way too much description haha so idk how much you can trust me there.
As for planningāunless it's something like a map for reference's sake or something heavy political, I honestly try to avoid planning. It really kills my motivation when my only motivation is the burning need to put something down onto paper. Not planning forces me to write the scenes I'm less interested in so that I can get to the ones I'm excited for.
But obviously planning does work for some people, and I have written bullet points for things I want to happen in certain chapters for my previous fics.
