Coming soon: ‘The MagnACE Archives‘ Fandom Event!
Though asexual awareness week is almost over and the season finale is nigh, there’s no reason we can’t continue to live our best lives by celebrating everyone’s favorite ace archivist! Thus, we’re announcing a brand-new event focused specifically on works relating to asexuality.
We want to create space for all of the many, many aces in this fandom to represent and see themselves represented in TMA fanworks, and also engage with those works in a comfortable and positive way. Because everyone deserves that sweet ace rep!
In this event, anyone will be able to contribute prompts for ace!fanfic on our Dreamwidth memes. Writers are then invited to fill as many prompts as they like, and/or post any other ace-related fics they like to our AO3 collections or on tumblr. Art is welcome too, and will be reblogged on this account! (Also, please note that you don’t have to be ace to participate - we just ask that you do your due diligence, and will be providing some guidelines and suggestions to that effect.)
We’re doing our best to make this as inclusive and welcoming as possible. In addition to having open submissions as mentioned above, this means:
Anonymity - Both prompts and fic “fills” will be posted anonymously on Dreamwidth. The AO3 collections will also be anonymous, though you are welcome to have your name revealed or cross-post your work with your name attached if you wish.
Separate collections for SFW vs. NSFW - Both Dreamwidth and AO3 will have separate sections to make it easier to find or avoid certain stuff!
Mandatory tags - We’ll be asking (and moderating) writers to add appropriate tags to indicate the kind of asexual representation they’re including in their work, again to make it easier to find and filter what you want to read.
For more information on our goals and methods, check out our About the Event page!
31st October - Dreamwidth opens for prompts
2nd - 10th November - Prompt fills and fanwork posting
That’s it for now, but the full Rules, FAQ, and Tag Guidelines will be available soon. In the meantime, we encourage you to think about what kind of prompts you may want to post and what fanworks you want to create!
You’re also free to send us any burning questions or concerns you may have. We can’t guarantee that we will implement all suggestions, as there are a lot of competing interests at work (for instance, we’re not going to be outright banning any type of content), but we are doing our utmost to run this event in a thoughtful and considerate way.
We hope you’ll join us in kicking off the hiatus with some spectacular ace fanworks!
