Dolly progress!
Joss arrived today - she’s the base for Marta.
Along with her are a pair of PC Kirsten eyes, which I initially traded for Joss's originals (which is why Joss is eyeless!), but when my 76 arrived I realized I hated that color, so I traded those eyes for Joss's original eyes, and another pair of Tenney eyes for the Kirsten eyes instead.
The Kirsten eyes had a case of bubble eye, which I did know about before the trade and was expecting. I almost had it fixed by just removing the separated pupil and repainting it, but some of the black paint leaked up into where the iris had begun to lift. So a complete repaint for both eyes because I couldn't get an exact match. Original on the left, repaint on the right.
Marta's eyes will be slightly bluer than the original greyish-blue, but that's okay because Kirsten and Lars have both been given new eyes anyway.
I also cleaned the rust out of the eye casings before putting them back together. I repainted the eyelids on the Joss eyes to match Singing Bird's skin tone and set them aside to dry while I removed Joss's face paint (the lip paint was wonky and the wrong color) and wig.
I've also decided against an ear swap for Marta. The vinyl matches fine, but her ears don't bother me any more than Singing Bird's ears, so I'm just not giving myself another task. I plan to get their eyes back in tomorrow morning, face paint in the afternoon, wigs (well, Marta's, anyway) tomorrow night. Singing Bird's wig is still in transit, so I'll attach it when it arrives.
Marta will borrow Kirsten's school dress until I can cut a pattern and make her some of her own. I'm still looking for fabric to make Singing Bird's dress with. I've found genuine chamois leather locally but it's not the color I want and it was very expensive for the size of the cut, so I'll keep looking. For now I might use the synthetic suede I currently have just so she has something to wear till I can source the real stuff.
