You know, I’ve gotta say, that ad has some really good timing.
God the stampede scene is absolutely terrifying in a theatre. And I was blessed enough to get to experience it twice this week.
Like...the scope puts it in perspective. that first shot of all the wildebeests flooding over the gorge wall as the music rises is insane. The sound and foley hits harder. The cracking of the old tree and the impact when Mufasa gets hit in the face are so...meaty as opposed to when simply viewed at home.
But what really got me was how...the entire theatre was shaking. Through the entire scene. And then it just....stops after Mufasa falls and the dust clears.
Don't get me started on the lions roaring as Simba takes his place at the end. You feel this movie in your bones.
