The bracelet Imogen had found by Annieâs grave all those years back still sat on her bedside table, draped over the edge of the framed photograph of her and all her friends a few months before Annie disappearedâdied. She had to still tell herself to keep thinking of it as the night Annie died, was murdered, but it was hard to do that when it felt like she vanished that night and then was killed years later when her body was discovered. Sheâd still been so alive, so vivid and real, in Imogenâs memory so it was always difficult to connect those two as⊠the same. If that made sense, which it did to her so whatever. Now there were three people in that photo who she'd never see again. She reached over, looking up from the book she wasnât able to concentrate on, and grabbed the bracelet from the table, turning it over in her hands. It was strange that someone would leave it lying there like they had. Imogen liked to see the best in everyone but she was pretty sure it could easily have been stolen. Right? Maybe. Or maybe it wouldnât have been noticed. Who really visited Annieâs grave beside her and her friends, Annieâs family, and maybe a few others? She figured it was Chloe who put the bracelet there for some reason but sheâd never really bothered to ask⊠maybe she should have left it where it was. She suddenly started to feel guilty as she thought about it, looked at the bracelet. If Chloe had put it there it would have been for a reason, it was a memorial. God. Yeah, she should have left it⊠she just didnât have many things of Annieâs left. Sheâd just seen it and... hadnât thought about taking it as sheâd slipped it into her pocket after recognising it instantly. So long ago now sheâd almost forgotten about that day altogether.
