After some consideration, this project went in a *completely* different direction than when I went into it. The original shirt has lots of good elements (the collar is one thing I really enjoy) but it seemed more of a base for a festival diy look.
Beads didn't work out (oh well, there's always another project). Wish I'd just taken off the velcro to begin with for resizing because taking the strips off in the middle of everything was annoying. I told myself I wasn't going to redo the collar.... and then I did.

Which is my first instinct but maybe I should find a pair of denim-printed shorts and alter them (a snap is usually all those things need to become high-waisted).
With the cowboy trend still kicking (I've no idea how), I think I've got some cowboy boots that are eligible for a paint job. And oh no wouldn't it be a shame if I couldn't find a pair and I had to use regular boots instead. But I think I have at least two pairs of the cowboys so I don't think it'll come to that.
And those beads aren't for nothing! Jewelry feels like a good use. Lots of stacked bracelets and layered necklaces should help this thing out.
So, that's where this is at. I probably won't touch it for a bit because I want to move on to another project but keep this in the ol' tumblr idea vault (TIV) for future ref.
