Disney Implodes âTiny Death Starâ
The mobile fan favorite âTiny Death Starâ disappeared from the iOS App Store and Google Play Store in a move pulled by Disney, the publisher behind the âTiny Towerâ clone set in the âStar Warsâ universe.
âTiny Death Starâ was a mobile game that required users to build on the Death Star as a tower, adding different kinds of levels (e.g., retail, imperial basement) in order to expand its influence in the universe. As your Death Star expanded, you earned more revenue and bonuses, enabling you to upgrade your Death Star with more levels, improved existing levels, and a faster elevator.
Nimblebit, the development company that actually created the game, believes the reason has to do with money:
My assumption is they don't feel it is worth it to maintain the game any longer ⌠[even though âTiny Death Starâ was] a significant source of revenue for us, so it stings that much more. Ian Marsh, Developer
If you still have the game installed, it isnât going anywhere. However, new users wonât be able to download the game to either their iOS or Android devices, and current users wonât receive any more updates, similar to the much slower death of sister program âTiny Towerâ (which âendsâ at about level 164 or so due to a lack of new content).
