That time I made a tiny portrait of Loki for my friend’s action figure and he stared at it rather judgmentally 🐍
Another 1 in 4 Tiny Portrait in the works tonight!
The stand and clip on the back of this miniature suggest that it was probably used as a place or name card holder for elegant dinner parties. However, the person who gave this tiny portrait to the museum may have used it to decorate the interior of a dollhouse.
The portrait depicts Marie de Rabutin-Chantal, Marquise de Sévigné (5 February 1626 - 17 April 1696), a French aristocrat, remembered for her letter-writing. Most of her letters, celebrated for their wit and vividness, were addressed to her daughter. She is revered in France as one of the great icons of French literature. Her prolific correspondence depicted aristocratic life in the age of Louis XIV.
