SEEN: Tin Lion - "Make The Scene"
Ok. Iāll be honest, I know literally *nothing* about music made on machines. Iāve just got no frame of reference. Iām a huge fan of lots of it, but I couldnāt tell you *why* if my life depended on it. I donāt know the genres, I donāt know the influences, I canāt hear an electronic record and understand whatās lighting up the bit in my brain that tells me that I like it. So, fair warning, this review is going to be appalling for anyone who does understand stuff that goes bleep. Youāre going to hate me by the end of this.
Ok, first up, this video looks like itās been streamed in via a Nintendo, blocky and strange, and I think thatās awesome. Itās less something that you watch than something youād expect to be projected on a wall somewhere, which is cool as all giddyup. Thereās also that section of video where itās basically this cool-looking robot thatās been totally pixelated which just sits there and flickers at you. Thatās just rad.
I also really like the clanging snare, which pangs its way through the whole tune like someoneās banging a nail through the back of your head. In a good way, obviously. Iām fairly sure the bloopy arpeggios are clever, but to be honest Iām not certain. Theyāre fun though.
The vocals though are the best bits. Totally deadpan. Like heās staring at you with utter contempt. Thatās punk rock, and I understand that at least. Pretty sure heās making a point of some kind about scenes, a point which may or may not be satirical ā but since heās not screaming it at a hundred miles an hour over a blistering guitar background (and since Iām really stupid) I canāt be entirely sure. Still, itās a good bit, youāll like it. Makes me want to raise a single eyebrow and look at you like youāre a terrible fashion victim.
Oh, thereās also this great noise that kind of dongs all the way through it, like someoneās just punched a whale. Thatās a killer sound.
So, then⦠yes. Hope that helps. Sorry.
