The Night Tim Young Made North Stars Franchise History at MSG
On January 15, 1979, Tim Young exploded for five goals on five shots at Madison Square Garden as the Minnesota North Stars crushed the New York Rangers 8-1.
He assisted on an early goal before scoring five straight of his own, completing a natural hat trick by the second period and adding two more in the third. Rangers goalies Doug Soetaert and Wayne Thomas had no answers.
It remains the ONLY five-goal game in franchise history, even after the move to Dallas.
Five shots. Five goals. One unforgettable night.
