"The Sunrise In Your Eyes"
Your sexy eyes
remind me of an intoxicating sunrise,
with all the hope of the world.
They see what I cannot,
the future of love so genuinely real,
my eyes have opened now.
I see the vision of the truth
that I never truly had before my love,
a faith of pure romantic elation.
To be held by an angel
is better to be beaten down by the devil,
committing sins of the world.
Tasting your nightly passion
leads me to believe there is a true God,
that has shined upon me now.
I need not awaken now
from this dream of romantic heaven,
my sure reality for eternal days.
Your sexy eyes are my sunrise.
my vision to a new amazing sunset.

Ice: share a snippet where a character is taking a risk.
So aura-binding is dangerous because you run the risk of damaging your own aura while trying to fix someone else's...
But then Rinnie does this...
~
The necrosis was spreading up to his elbow, purple tendrils preceding it. Rinnie bit her lip.
âFuck it.â
She put one palm against his face, her fingers stretching to his left temple, his forehead, and his cheekbone. The other palm she flattened against his sternum. Then she forged a connection, binding their auras. She slammed down some walls on her own aura, trying to protect herself, but also leaving enough open so she could channel.
While she wasnât particularly intimate with Lodgepoolâs aura, she knew what it was supposed to feel like. Additionally, by this point, she was damn sure she knew what Nidtrixâs influence was. Unlike with Selsing, where the influence manifested as dark slimy cancers in his aura, this influence was like a fire out of control, burning everything so completely there was nothing left behind.

Thanks for asking!

đ¸Find the Word Tag Gameđş
Thanks for the tag @sentfromwolvesâ! Sorry it took me so long to get to this đ˘
But here we are! All of these are from Siege of Berthingtonn, which I recently revised a draft of! (Okay, like, back in October, but still.)
My words are: boots, mud, rough, petal, and ripple
đ˘BOOTSđ˘
Kiyo was right. The ocean helped.
Rinnie stood there with her skirts hiked up, boots discarded in the sand where Kanjo was dutifully standing guard. Kiyoâs shoes were there too, and sheâd rolled up her pants so they wouldnât get too wet. Kanjo stayed out of the water, ostensibly to give the ladies some privacy, as heâd said. It was probably some combination of that and him wanting to better keep an eye on the surroundings.
The Crater Sea wasnât a true ocean. It was freshwater and really an oversized lake caused by the meteor during the Cataclysm. The meteor made up Balios Island, which ordinarily Rinnie was curious enough to think tangents about. Though today she lacked the drive.
She breathed deeply with her eyes closed, letting the water lap around her ankles. She heard a splashing next to her and saw that Kiyo was playing with a water tendril. The water was at hip-height and Kiyo had the tendril snaking in figure-eights without touching anything around it. The motion was a calming one and Rinnie drew up her own water tendril to copy Kiyoâs motions.
âLet the water take your stress,â Kiyo said. âIt doesnât care.â
đMUDđ
A smooth, educated, and cultured man like Aurin Aubrey would certainly be more of a fun match for Maleena than these stinking soldiers whom she had been shepherding for the last two years and leading for the last hour after she had deemed their commander a defeatist coward and had executed him.
Of course, that hadnât really gotten her far. Heâd told her that it was borderline suicidal and tactically useless to continue to advance their tank platoon until the sappers had finished clearing the ground in front of that damnable trench of the damnable traps that the ungrateful heathens in Berthingtonn had laid for them, so she had shot him and advanced the platoon herself. Which is how she found herself here, stuck in the mud with no left treads and waiting on a wrecker to come make repairs.
At least the sniper fire had died down enough so a wrecker could come and repair them. Two of the four other tanks in her platoon had been destroyed outright and the third had been abandoned by its crew, only to be killed by those snipers in the trench. Maleena sighed.
đĽROUGHđŤ
âOkay gents,â Killian began as he crouched down and drew a rough map of the school in the dust that had fallen to the ground. âWe are here.â He pointed to a spot on the northeast end of the map. âThe Nids are working their way from the southwest entrance by the administrative offices up to our location. Weâve cut them in half, so while third platoon is busy pushing the assholes back out west with the help of the guards already stationed here, weâre going straight south. Their commander is either going to have to relinquish the building or fight, which is what we want him to do.â
Adler only half-listened as Killian detailed the rest of his plan. He was worried about Riela. He shook his head at the irony. He was a Marine, a professional, and that part of him knew that listening to his commander would get him back to her in much better shape than worrying about her. Still, focusing was difficult.
âThe enemy has violated one of the most sacred laws of civilized war,â Killian said. âLetâs show them that making this a habit is a bad idea. Weâre not taking prisoners here.â
The men nodded, grim expressions on their faces.
đťPETALđť
âAre you always this awkward with women?â
âUsually Iâm worse,â Julian replied with a shrug of his shoulder. âWant to watch me do tricks with fireballs?â
Rinnie arched an eyebrow. âIs that your idea of asking me out?â
Julian stretched his hands out in front of him and rolled his wrists while a few flames danced along his hands. âWhy heavens no, taku, this is.â With a snapping motion, he extinguished the fire and rolled his right hand upwards in front of Rinnieâs face. Clasped in his fingers, was a dandelion flower. A few of the petals were singed. He smiled lopsidedly.
âItâs, um.â Rinnie took a breath. âA very pretty weed, Julian.â
âThe finest one between Headquarters and here.â This time he arched an eyebrow at her. âWould you like to go to dinner with me? I know a place in the inner city called the Walltop. Best steak and trimmings on the Crater Sea.â
âYou had me at steak,â Rinnie replied coyly. âThough how are we getting in the Wall at a time like this?â
âOoh, that does put a damper on things,â Julian admitted.
Rinnie reached out and took the weedâdandelionâfrom Julianâs hand. âThanks.â
đRIPPLEđ
Kanjo pulled out Rinnieâs picture and showed it to the man. âHave you seen this woman?â
âOh,â the man said. âI see. Yes, I have. Itâs been a few days. She was at the GateâŚâ
âI knew it!â Lodgepool said.
âIâd gone to fill out some paperwork to ostensibly make my life easier going in and out with this increased security. Fat load of good thatâs done, but thatâs a story for another day. Uh, it was sometime between two and three in the afternoon on the sixth. She and some other man came out of a room looking harried and concerned. They left the station without speaking to anyone on their way out. I know it was her though. Very recognizable face.â
âSome other man?â
The man shrugged. âTall, darker hair and complexion. Honestly, he didnât look like he was from around here.â
Kanjo filed that information away. Alone, it wasnât much to go on.
âAnything else?â he asked.
The man shook his head. âI wish you luck.â
âThank you.â
Kanjo and Lodgepool left. Kanjo looked at his list and tried to pinpoint where Rin had gone. Once she holed up, she wouldnât move again unless something inspired her. Kanjo was near positive that anything inspiring her to move wouldâve had ripples elsewhere and heâdâve heard about it.
âI knew it,â Lodgepool muttered. âI just knew it.â
âThe Embassy bungled that one,â Kanjo mused. âThough that implies someone on the Berthan Guards wanted to keep Rin out here.â
He didnât dwell on that thought long.
No wonder Rin was laying low.
I always love doing these! đ Iâm gonna tag: @muddshadow, @bebewrites, and @mjjune with the words: sand, year, listen, breath, dwell.
"Coming Home"
It was the Winter of 1996
she went away from me,
never to return to my life.
I see her eyes glimmer
in the stars,
her smile is the noonday sun.
Her walk is the sway
of the trees,
in our romantic field of dreams.
Her lips are strawberries
on any day in May,
tasting of sweet intoxication.
Now I am without her
left to dream,
about dying to be with her.
Leave a place for me,
next to that
brilliant star in your heart. . . .
because I am coming home.

Acting Bodyguard
Cameron sent a bolt of lightning at Elenore. For a moment, Lodgepool could see her shield, as the lightning crackled around it. Then it faded from existence entirely.
Rinnie formed fire around her fists, but Lodgepool couldnât stand by and do nothing. He put himself between Elenore and Rinnie, pulling his knife out of its scabbard at his hip.
He grabbed Elenoreâs arm, yanked her off-balance, and shoved his knife into her armpit.
Everything seemed to freeze. Elenore turned and stared at him. The stare was almost otherworldly. With her opposite arm, she reached over and grabbed Lodgepoolâs right wrist.
Suddenly, everything hurt. It felt like fire crawling up his arm. His wrist where Elenore had grabbed him was completely numb.
Food đ˛đĽđĽ
Lodgepool stored the rifle under the bed and put the pistol on the bedside table. He tossed the backpack at the foot of the bed, but didnât make any effort to unpack it yet. Then he perused the kitchen.
