18. What is a line/scene you’re really proud of? Give us the DVD commentary for that scene.

That would be the opening scene of chapter 6.

I made a first draft of it about a year ago and when I came back to it, I was surprised that it was better than I remembered. 

I have a love-hate relationship with writing dialogue and this one was an especially fun but headache causing paperwork. The dynamic between Atem, Seto and Mahad is (one of) my favorite and I wanted very much to get it right and for it to be a quick and witty back and forth between CEO and priest, that involved them so much that they totally forgot about Atem for a moment.  

Everyone is so on edge in that scene. Atem is caught between relief at seeing his presumed dead friend again and has all these mixed feelings he can’t place, fascination for the modern world and attraction for this very tall, very handsome man in front of him; Seto is confronted with things he’s never thought possible, time travel, the existence of magic in the world, the fight against an assassin and actually developing feelings for said time traveler, who claims to be a pharaoh from ancient Egypt; Mahad almost got killed on the search of his prince, was practically dead for the better half of the day and when he finally finds Atem, he’s about to kiss a total stranger, one that isn’t even the tiniest bit impressed by his magical skills but starts to sass him in front of his prince, who, on top of everything, actually defends that man - that’s a powder keg if there ever was one. 

But as I was writing it, I was starting to get nervous because I didn’t know where they would or could end up and wondered if I wasn’t overdoing it, since I had way too much fun with it. The transitions were a little tricky but the part practically wrote itself, so I was both sad and relieved when Isis stepped in and stopped them from going any further. 

Isis’ sentence is actually my favorite line as well because I believe “Okay, boys. That’s enough.” should have been said a lot more in Yugioh.

My favorite outfit has to be Rohan! Lol everything that man wears is amazing! He was the only character who I looked at and thought “Oh! That’s such a cute outfit!!” I especially love his outfit during the Highway Star arc.

Also, I LOVE analogous colors!!! Anime Doppio is just so pleasant to my eyes! 💕 On top of that, my favorite colors are pink and purple. I could just look at him all day. *dreamy sigh*

Later than anything so instead of “cryptid” prose, here’s something more whimsical. I hope it will suffice. <3

The leaves stuck in her hair. 

It was auburn. It was the color of chimneys. The color of sunsets and autumn. It curled and twisted and fell slowly, slowly down her shoulders.

She looked up then at the dust falling from the bookcase. Landing on her writings. Her scribblings on philosophy. On silly things really, she’d gotten off-topic when Plato didn’t seem to suit the color of the ink.

Who had pulled the book, just then? How rude they must be! 

Sighing, she closed the large tome and folded her things into her satchel; another day would fit the mood better, perhaps? Maybe a day without people moving books and trying to catch her racing thoughts.
