To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning, and Your faithfulness every night... —Psalm 92:2 (NKJV) It's a guilty pleasure in my life -- slipping out of bed while it's still dark... brewing coffee in a quiet kitchen... and stepping on a porch, mug warming my hands, just to watch the world wake up. If I'm lucky, that's mornings in our house. They're early (littles are still in bed). They're special (talk time, between me and God). They're soft and sweet (only the sounds of coffee brewing, birds chirping, and murmured prayers)... they're mine and His together. I'm traveling this month -- a bit of stage-storytelling, signing books, hugging and praying with Jesus-loving sisters, and (I can't wait!!!) -- collective worship at a conference or two. So while my regular writer routine may be off on the calendar, the warm embrace of God's lovingkindness will still be there each morning. No matter where I wander, when I wake, what flavor the coffee... He's there. It's our time. In the early. The special. In the soft and sweet. I pray this mid-week finds you waking in His lovingkindness. That in the midst of packed summer schedules and busy work weeks... of travel and conferencing... we can steal away time to declare His faithfulness, and love, and grace, in the morning. Even if we have to set that alarm and ignore the Snooze button for one, brave day. Slip out of bed, go to the kitchen in the dark. (Don't step on Legos in the living room floor, parents! OUCH!!) Brew a cuppa. Step outside. Watch His world wake, and just... talk. Say something.
